看广东话‘小娘惹’！Watch the rare video clip of 戴阳天Dai Yang Tian, 欧萱Jeanette Aw and 阿桃Ah Tao bantering Cantonese in the Hong Kong’s version of ‘小娘惹The Little Nyonya’. Or get a feel of 许美珍Cynthia Koh, 林明伦Darren Lim and 欧萱Jeanette Aw in the English version…

For 陈靓瑄Felicia Chin and 鹤天赐Nat Ho fans, catch them in the Bahasa Indonesia’s dubbing… You can also watch 林梅娇Lin Mei Jiao, 潘玲玲Pan Ling Ling, 向云Xiang Yun and 欧萱Jeanette Aw in the Thai version…in an all-in-one video clip below. 

This drama is being shown or will be shown in many countries. As the Nyonya culture is not a familiar aspect to foreigners in some countries, I was told that some TV station acquisition buyers were curious when they first heard about the mega-success of the show in Singapore. Looking at just the title, some asked if it was about ‘a-not-so-easily-bullied-little-girl’ - 小娘不好惹 (this one not bad because Yueniang was indeed not easily bullied). There was one who asked if it was a drama to do with ’a girl whom people could play play with’ – 小娘可以惹 (this is way off lah – haha). I am glad our unique Nyonya culture will be made known to far away viewers in other countries.

   oh finally. but paul, where’s the link? nothing to click.

   btw, i think eelyn looks like rosamund kwan and kathy chow hoi mei of hong kong, both are ah jie in their era.

   she has the looks, the figure, the voice and the acting skills.

   the 2 persons to take over the throne from zoe and fann are jeannette and eelyn.

   both work hard and do not speak foolish stuff to turn people off. both are of the right age to take over the reign.

   actually there is one more person who can qualify, but may reign for a shorter time due to age factor and she is none other than ann kok.

   to fill the vacuum now left by zoe and fann, ann, jeannette and eelyn should fit very comfortably. all three have the looks, appropriate height and size for singaporean taste, good voice, natural acting skills and most importantly “guan zhong yuan”.

   the others are too “big-sized” for our liking.

   btw, saw phyllis quek in channel u wishing singapore and sinagporean happy national day. she’s such a joy to watch. can we have more and more of her in channel 8? her performance in perfect cut 2 and rhapsody in blue was excellent. understand she’s on a lighter load for quality life, so if that’s the case, please give her a meatier role in the next channel 8 serial.

   If this airing in other countries turn out to be a great success, Jeanette Aw is going to make it big in this world! I’m really glad to hear about this message as I’ve long awaited her to get the recognition from the people. Yes, I mean the people. She has created history, a big history. Hopefully she’ll inspire a lot of youngsters to be like her in the near future. I Love Jeanette Aw! <3

    further to earlier comments, jesseca has baby bonus in which she plays a meatier role than dawn yeoh in daddy at home, in which she plays a supporting role. so apple against apple, jesseca may have a higher chance.

    pat and kym have equal chance. paris and milan is one of the most popular shows in singapore for all ages. so in fact, all four artiste including zhou chong qing, ben yeo, pat mok and michelle tay have equally good chance. but kym ng has better ren qi overall. tough fight there.

    sa 2010 will be a very very interesting one to watch. expecting quite a few will be “out” and quite a few “entries” due to good work attitude and actual new shows screened and excellent “guan zhong yuan”.

    despite winning BA by cynthia koh some years back, she has not been able to achieve “ah jie” status – perhaps daddy at home could give her some help on that. same for carole lim who won BA some years back, has never been able to reach “ah jie” status. her short return through her role in my buddy is a refreshing one indeed.

    Sorry, I really, serious beg to differ! Eelyn looks like Rosamund Kwan? I don’t like to slam artiste online but I must say something in case the producers read this and wonder whether Eelyn is really that pretty, despite their better judgement.

    Rosamund Kwan has snow white complexion and big, doe like eyes. With her long, black hair and soft looks, she looks like a soft, pretty lady.

    Eelyn cannot be compared to her. Eeelyn has a normal looking pair of eyes, which she can widen scarily when emoting. However, they are not doe-eyed, innocent or large (like a drawn anime character), which are Rosamund Kwan’s stand out features.

    Kathy Chow has a sharp lady, sex kitten image. Eelyn is neither sharp nor a sex kitten, so I fail to see how your comparison works.

    I am sorry, but although Eelyn is pretty compared to most girls on the streets, she is not outstandingly prettier than most Mediacorp actresses. I don’t know whether she can make the transition to leading actresses’ roles, but in my impression, her beauty still has a sour quality to it. She has a crooked, petty, jealous, not so-pretty but still want to be the best “sourish” quality to her looks.

    There, you have it! Honestly.

    I don’t like to slam artistes online but your claims are really too ludicrous, so I have to put things in perspective. Eelyn is ok, not bad, but not that ravishingly beautiful or special.

    Some youngsters rave about her height. She has good height, but then again, doesn’t most of Mediacorp actresses have decent figures? What’s so special about hers, especially if it’s not outstanding like Fiona Xie’s or Michelle Chia’s? It’s just a normal slim and tall figure like many actresses. Nothing greater to rave about!

    I don’t know whether she can successfully change her looks and create an impact like Jeanette and Joanne. But to start off her, her foundation (looks) and charisma isn’t that special anyway. At least, I would say, right now, she isn’t that special to me.

    I don’t know if it’s something she can fix, but if she wants to be the lead actresses’ role, try to lose that “sourish” quality about her appearance, it’s not becoming of a lead princess.

    I am sorry to be ambivalent about the show. I didn’t really like it, especially the acting (I am sorry to disagree with the panel of Star Awards). I remember standing up when I see Felicia and Nat (especially Nat) come onto the screen, I remember cringing when I saw Joanne and Eelyn appearing (especially Eelyn whose performance in the show, I have to say, is seriously beyond superficial – I am at a loss of adjectives to use), I recall sighing when I see Meijiao & Yinzhu (two very great actresses in my opinion but both of whom were not up to their usual standards, I felt).

    I don’t understand. I did not like the deliberate-ness of the show if anyone can get a gist of what I am trying to say. It was such a staged performance that there seemed no authenticity to it. Everyone spoke in a way that annoyed me (which is why I didn’t get it when people complained about Jeanette’s diction). Every move was so calculated, every expression was so meticulously measured that it was gruelling to watch the drama really. The only good thing, I must say, was the Peranankan culture which it showcased – exquisite, fine, almost breathtaking. And the storyline wasn’t that bad – thank goodness for Qi Yuwu & Jeanette’s romance for saving the plot really.

    I can’t say I am particularly excited thus, that the show is reaching out to others beyond our shores. The only strand of excitement I get, I guess, is probably the pride that comes when a Singaporean product / brand sells well overses, regardless of its quality.

    saw from the link provided by JA’s fan in Shanghai and was utterly disappointed that they even placed a big picture of Yuzhu with Yueniang and Chenxi a smaller one; this is getting out of context cos these ppl must have misinterpreted the whole storyline thinking that the focus in on Yuzhu (just cos Yuzhu’s role won the BA Award). i hope MDC will straighten this out otherwise they will be putting our English proficiency at stake; cos silence means consent; agreeing with them. i’m sure all of us knows that the storyline is all about Juxiang and Yueniang.

    i have just visited eelyn’s blog. she mentioned she is busy filming together. she mentioned dai yang tian, zhang zhen huan, elvin and kola. they are having good chemistry while preparing for their parts. she did not mention jeannette. are they working well together? 2 of them are the main leads and i hope they work very well together, so that together will be a success like TLN.

    pls update us about eelyn’s working relationship with jeannette. i’m concerned because jeannette was not mentioned in her blog. both of the them are peers. jeannette was 1st and eelyn was 2nd in a star search competition organised by the ex-channel u.

    in fact i am confident that their partnership will bring out the best in the show.

    looking forward to more previews on this show.

    haha….the thai n viet version very funny…lol. The eng version is very weird… The canto version sounds the most normal to me.

    (Paul: I find Thai version very natural because somehow the lip-sync works with teh language. English one not so good but I quite like the Cantonese version – maybe will be on sale…not sure lah)

    Paul, was wiki-ing when I saw a wiki page finally set up for 7 Princesses but it seems that the page is being proposed for deletion because the nickname of “7 Princesses” is thought to be “non-notable”?

    I wonder does this means that we are in fact, like frogs in our own wells? There we have, articles one after another almost on an every other day basis about “7 Princesses” and we have you who is proposing new ahjie as a form of promotion from the “7 Princesses” title but the term is just “non-notable” to others? Are we living in our own worlds? Too capable of self-promotion?

    Haha, I have no idea how did so many people get the idea of Eelyn Kok making her way in the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes award next year at the awards when she has never ever been nominated for that at all. To add on more to the funny part, they said that she’ll garner the award. The competition is so furious for goodness sake! And to hi people, you are h.i.l.a.r.i.o.u.s.! Dawn Yeoh beating Jesseca Liu? You got to be kidding me. The chances of her beating Jesseca Liu is at 0 percent. Dawn Yeoh is one of the least popular one in the “7 Princesses.” Even Fiona beats her down without creating any doubts. So please, think before you speak in future. Eelyn Kok is playing a second role next to Jeanette. Obviously, it’s either jealousy or what. Geylang passer-by mentioned once that Eelyn Kok ng-ed for quite a number of times while Jeanette did not even ng-ed for once. Either she’s jealous, or she’s pissed. As for the awards crap, just shut up and sit down at your sofa set and wait for the results next year.

    JA just updated her blog. In one of her photo with DYT, with genuine feeling you can’t say any other things but “how compatible she is with DYT, they look alike as a couple and really worth to be promoted further together”.
    Same feel when watched Zoe & Nanxing together many many years ago.

    Thank you for 8 days and I weekly that lately have put others actor/s as cover such as Yvonne, Brian, QY Feng, C Meng and family. It’s good to have stories about them. It’s really good to have varieties.

    just bought the i-weekly.

    ann gave a very mixed message. she said she doesn’t mind 11 years her junior (concidentally, dyt is 25 and she is 36). she said she’s single, in a relationship, but complicated.

    i hope the reporters will follow up closely on this. been buying wan bao and shin ming whenever there’s any news on their relationship.

    to someone up there who compare kym ng with pat mok, i feel that no matter how hard pat mok tries, she still can’t make me laugh.

    think kym is any time better. don’t think pat mok will make it to top 10 sa2010. no matter what, i foresee at least 4 dropping out from the top 10 sa2010, such as ivy lee, vivian lai, joanne peh and felicia chin.

    there’ll probably be a new wave of people going up the stage this year. the people i foresee on the first row, ie best actresses, possibly, ann kok, zoe tay (daddy at home/housewives holiday), fann wong, jeannette aw and hong hui fang (housewives holiday was a huge success). ultimate winner possibly ann or jeannette.

    but we could find their whole series online, some in HD still.. I think MCS’s current approach is still quite alright. uploading full episodes should be condemned but promotional videos or trailers could be tolerated if it’s merely meant to help promote the show(s). just see it as an additional platform to increase your reach.

    i agree to what :/ said.. i do not agree in uploading the whole series online, but short clips such as trailers, teasers, and other promo videos are fine. thankfully, mediacorp isn’t harsh on this. there are people overseas who rely on youtube to check out all these short clips. and i strongly believe it is another way out for promoting.

    So MediaCorp, how will you appreciate Jeanette and Yuwu for their contributions to the success the Little Nyonya that far.
    I know the other supporting actors and actress do their part to make this movie a success but lead actor and lead actress got the most attention, this is the norm for most movie. That is why most producers are usually worried if they cannot find their lead actor and lead actress in any drama.

    Even if MediaCorp employs 500 staffs but your ideas is limited to 500 staffs. If you have 1million Singaporean ‘brains’ to give you ideas, then the sky is your limit. All these while I have given you quite a fair assessment of MediaCorp at no cost, now I am throwing another ‘gems’ to you, you should consider to be ‘lucky’. No more ideas from me in the future.
    Jeanette is the most ‘lucky’ actress in MediaCorp.

    Got to spend more time to make money for myself.

    i want to make the same request too that i-weekly and 8 days should have JA and DYT on their covers; so far there is none; why is that so? these are two good looking artistes; having them grace the covers will definitely appeal to the public/viewers/fans. wake up i-weekly and 8 days. have them for once in casual outfits. paul, can you pls convey this msg to those magazine ppl. tku and really looking forward to this happening.

    u commented that way is because i predicted that joanne peh and felicia chin will be out of top 10 SA2010, these 2 happen to be the ones u support.

    like the saying goes, one man’s meat is another man’s poison.

    those 2 may be the very ones that mdc will take out so that the entertainment scene in singapore gets more exciting. well, it’s again i qualify my opinion. u do not have to tell me if it’s laughable. anyway, at least my comments “excites” u to rebut, which means it’s working well to create the controversy. remember that the stage scene will never be the same cos this is entertainment and not political stage where consistency and nomalcy should be expected day in day out. in entertainment, if u do not have “new” pple or pple who have not won it for a long time winning the award, then it is a boring event. singaporean places a lot of attention on excitement derived in the entertainment scene.

    your one-person opinion is slanted to just the 2 of them, which will definitely piss the management of mdc off, i’m sure. perhaps, they may even ask u to go and fly kite, hor?

    Just for your information, Felicia ranked 4th in Top 10 for SA07, and was Top among the princesses in SA09. So she’s going to remain in Top 10 for quite some time. Take this dose of poison and swallow it well.

    Next, Vivian will receive competition in SA2010, but we know how she got in every year, and 2010 might not be an exception.

    Joanne’s case is a little tricky. She’s constantly in the news albeit.. too.. whatever-ish. But, I will say she has a good chance if YHIM is broadcasted all the way from Nov till it ends.

    As for your dearest Eelyn Kok, I like her, but SA2010 Top 10 won’t be seeing her for at least another year. Here’s your second dose. Don’t choke.

    Finally, I would like to say that I’m supportive of Felicia and Joanne, but I definitely make comments objectively, that is, with facts and information I know.

    As for you, you most often go around proclaiming how likable and popular your favourite artistes are and neglect the fact that you sound disgusting enough to made every single one of your comments a joke to many people’s eyes.

    Well, I’m objective, so I will let you in on something, Eelyn’s not going to reign as Ah-Jie in the future. But she will definitely make an impression, and will make it big(or bigger). She is going a different route from the princesses, so don’t lump her in with ur love for Jeanette.

    As for Jeanette.. the roles she get will shape and mould her. Up until this point, I believe that she needs tailored-made roles and is not a very versatile actress that can build a good relationship with audiences regardless of the roles she takes up. Again, she can be much better in many ways that the entertainment industry require her to be good at. But for now, she’s definitely.. an actress to watch.

    i agree that i really love the i weekly cover featuring Yvonne Ann and Cynthia, they look simply awesome, and they are really great actresses. kudos to them.

    but huh? there’s still ppl requesting for dyt and ja on cover? come on, things have to move on and not always stuck in tln era. it’s OVER.

    and i seriously think dyt have enough of magazine covers for the year. getting onto iweekly and uweekly at the same time is enough, it’s getting onto ppl’s nerves. overdoing is not promoting, it’s demoting, mind you, fans.
