This is Part 2 of the survey (Part 1: see previous blog post on Dramas & Leading Stars) to gather your feedback as we are mapping out the local dramas and stars you want to see in the next 3 years. Casting of TV On-Screen couples is an important decision in every drama and we want to hear from you in this following format:

The Executive Producers would like to make sure viewers are comfortable with the choice of the ‘couples’. I have also added ‘Most Refreshingly New’ because they also want to ‘create’ new pairs of on-screen couples never seen before…

1. Rui En + Elvin Ng: As some had mentioned previously, Elvin acts better when with RE. I completely agreed. They just had that unexplainable chemistry there. They are very compatible in terms of height and looks too. Hope to see them together on screen.
2. Jeanette Aw + Qi Yuwu: I feel very comfortable with their pairing in TLN. They also look good standing together on tv.
3. Jesseca Liu + Tay Ping Hui

(Both of them have paired up for numerous of times, they also self-commented that in the process of filming, they often throw in new line themselve without any rehearsals, I would strongly believe that by giving them any role, they would blend it well, we could also see witty & interesting lines invented by them too, isn’t it great?)
2) Cynthia Koh & Tay Pinghui
(Last paired in The Ties That Bind, both of them 1st paired in 1999 for Stepping Out, which both later won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor respectively in Star Awards 1999, Tay Pinghui commented in a 8 days interviews that Cynthia is one of his favourite pair and Cynthia is experience in kissing scene especially.)
3) Joanne Peh & Zzen Zhang
(Perhaps it would be good if to paired them in a comedy.)

one additional note to my list yesterday,
I did not include Huang Wenyong/Xiangyun, Nanxing/Zoe and Chris/Fann as they are already past this era. We need the new generation of on-screen couples. That is definitely Qi Yuwu/Jeanette. After that, it is Elvin Ng/Rui-En. If Elvin Ng/Ruien have to do kissing/bed scenes, it is quite hard for RuiEn to do that. If we ask Qi Yuwu/Jeanette, i am sure they do it. haha.

i generally have preference for light hearted family and social dramas, professional ones particularly for doctors and lawyers are great for me. how about show on a female gyneacologist played by EELYN KOK? surely, she has the air to carry it well. ardent supporter of her. her love interest can be CHRISTOPHER LEE. both of them have worked on several shows and results are pretty satisfying.

1st: definitely Edmund Chen and Ivy Lee! Although they may not be as popular as Zoe Tay and Li Nanxing or Fann Wong and Christopher Lee, they really have the chemistry together. they never fail to have a show every single year ever since 2001 till 2007 (supposingly up till 2009, if not for Zheng Geping taking over the role in “Love Blossoms”), their chemistry in all the different shows never fail to give me a different “feel” and proves to me, as the audience, that the more they act together, their chemistry gets better and better.
They cliched the 3rd position of the best onscreen couple category in 2006’s “Star Awards Prelude” (2nd: Fann Wong and Christopher Lee, 1st: Zoe Tay and Li Nanxing).
Not forgetting the fact that they are one of the 5 nominated best onscreen couples in the 25th anniversary show held in 2007. Their chemistry is really awesome. It’s pretty sad that mediacorp didn’t really “promote” them as one of the best onscreen couples. So hopefully, mediacorp will pair them up together again.really miss their chemistry.):
2nd: Chew Chor Meng and Nnadia Chan (hope it’s ok for me to put them as one of my choices, since Nnadia Chan is a hong konger. they were really cute together in “you are the one”!).
3rd: Jacelyn Tay and Thomas Ong/Christopher Lee/Chen Hanwei.

Invite Edmund Chen, Ivy Lee, Huang Biren and Xie Shaoguang to act again. Maybe a show like…”the hotel”? The show is a success!
As for plot wise, I think it will be good if the genre is romance. Pair up the females (e.g Ivy Lee, Zoe Tay and Jacelyn Tay) as sisters or something. Then they work in this company and got to know the males (e.g. Edmund Chen, Li Nanxing and Chen Hanwei). Just a rough idea and my 2 cents’ worth(:

Hi Paul, need you help here, you dun need to publish this post as it is not related. The mediacorp forum was down for two days maintenance, now it is back online but notice my fave Jesseca Liu’s post has lots of missing threads. Before it went down, she got about 5000++ threads, it seems like lots of missing threads from 4/june onwards, can you help to escalate to ur IT team wat’s going on…her fans have been working hard to keep the thread alive, then it suddenly gone and the worst thing is seems like only hers affected…hope to hear your good news

But…just becasue MDC can’t produce a romance dramas such as TW’s or Korean’s..it’s still hard to feel the chemistry between them….maybe not romantic enough…or not toughing enough etc….
Just try to not always put the best on-screen couple in some police/family etc…kind of waste it…hard to find romance story from there..
However, MDC did a great job in writting a love story in a period drama (like AhSHui & AhMei or LNY) and like 金庸小说 (maybe the romance and toughing story already written in there, whatever…).
I am so looking forward to watching these kinds of drama genres…and hope that it is totally produced by MDC…without casting any other TW or HK actors(maybe one or two but they are not the lead actors)
for example:
Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre (倚天屠龍記)
The Legendary Couple (神鵰俠侶)
Laughing in the Wind (笑傲江湖)
The Legends Of The Eight Immortals(东游记)

my all-time fav is still lnx and zoe, their chemistry is amazing and they really look good together as a couple in terms of looks and feel.

and look like even zoe fans admitted that zoe really not versatile hor,
can only pair up with lnx lor. luckily lnx can pair with so many diff actresses

this is really disappointing. don’t the IT people back up the files or whatsoever? it’s so depressing to see that the thread that we’ve activated so well (particularly Jesseca’s thread that increased 5000 posts since June) became like that in just 2 days. all our efforts to revive the thread are erased entirely.

I am PAUL II! I am here to contribute. I think Zoe and LNX still has the best on-screen chemistry. Really!! Jeanette and 715 comes a super close second. And I think Rui En and Elvin Ng comes third.
Now for refreshing one, I agree to some comments here, how about putting Zoe and Dai Yangtian together? As old woman and young boy. Nowadays got a lot of this type of pairing, look at Hollywoord, got Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. I think it will be very refreshing.
I also like the Terence Cao and Tay Ping Hui pairing. Gay lovers, that will be something controversy and if MDC really produce, it will be one of a kind. please consider, MDC! I agree Tay Ping Hui will definitely win best actor already. And he will definitely get exposure overseas too. That show will definitely sell overseas de.
I think Cynthia Koh and Christopher Lee combination is very good. Don’t ask me why but I think it is really good. Because Cynthia looks more compatible with Chris in terms of age. Don pair Chris with Dawn, Joanne, Jeanette already please. Chris looks old already. Pair him with someone who looks a little more mature than these youngsters.

Ps: adding more detailed comments from previous
Jesseca liu has height and great chemistry with elvin ng. Moreover, both has portrayed similar characteristics and sporty image.
to pair jesseca with tph will be abit wrong as tph look too mature for her even though height is quite matching too.
rui en has a cool image hence should match with a passionate guy maybe like terence cao and not elvin ng.
jeanette aw has a few images thus goes well with any guy like DYT, 715 and maybe not too mature ones else looks weird.
felicia chin has a mature charisma thus quite matching with tph.
