Dramas in the 2nd half of 2010

You have probably found out all about the upcoming dramas in the 1st half of 2010: 过好年 Happy Family (Jan), 游戏人生 Priceless Wonder (Feb), 五福到 The Best Things In Life (Mar) and 红白喜事 New Beginnings (Apr)…but what do we have for the 2nd half? I don’t have much details but I can share with you briefly what the upcoming ones are like…

见鬼? It’s a supernatural genre but not the scary long hair in white robe  贞子 type but expect a light-hearted plus heart-warming genre about a male ghost (lead role) who befriends the man (also lead role) responsible indirectly for his death…casting almost complete…

You get to see a new drama about 3 Women caught up with a baby. They are not your typical housewives or homemakers but women-on-top, women-in-charged kind of working ladies. The story will start off with a TV production trying to film ‘奶爸百分百 Daddy Nanny 2′…

You will also get your dosage of ‘任我敖游 The Champion’ + ‘兵乓园 Table of Glory’ + 音乐 Music + 偶像 Idol kind of a genre in 2010. It will feature some kind of a water sport and will require young looking idols to play the roles. I hear the production will be sourcing  for new idol faces outside MediaCorp as well…

We will launch a new investigative thriller. It is an exciting genre with missing human cases to solve  by the 2 main female characters – a CID and an Informant 线人. 

‘Lawyers’ will be the ‘in’ thing in one of the months and this time we will move to the family court. It’s a legal profession-based social drama genre.

Plus, a new pending genre just before the annivesary drama.

Yes, the year end anniversary drama ‘A Song To Remember’ will be a whole new genre with its own audio soundtrack and an album of more than 10 original songs. It’s the late 30s and will involve many stars. A 天才 musician, a gung-ho upcoming songstress, a good-to-evil songstress, a modern day ‘Robinhood’, etc…you get the colorful cabaret set plus lots of songs and dance movie pacing kind of a drama genre written by the writer behind ‘The Little Nyonya’ and ‘Together’.

I don’t have much information on the cast as many are not into that stage yet but I think you will definitely find your favorite stars in them and expect to see the rise of new faces or some artistes becoming ‘big’ time stars in these dramas…

   Hopefully can see Cynthia in any of it

   Continue the trend of her 3 shows a year (she used to have it in the 90s and this year). Just one more show to make up 3 shows of Cynthia for 2010 or even best, make it 4 shows next year. Haha.

   Perhaps, this one you all should get Chen Hanwei? Haha, since he have sacrifice for role he played, or should we put Tay Pinghui in also? Then engineer both of their roles and then we can judge who is better? Hahaha.

   Oh, interesting. Teenagers like show such as Boys Over Flowers & Tao Hua Xiao Mei, although isn’t the auntie favourite but this show if it is good enough, I am sure it would be a sensation to the teenage? The Music & Idol part sort of remind me with 1995, Dream Hunters. Where Cynthia acted as a teenagers that crazy over celebs, I don’t think many remember. Haha. Hopefully you all could get foreign celebs too, like The Champion?

   I hope Cynthia would involve in any of it, because all of them looks quite nice to catch and it would be a challenge for Cynthia to try out any roles. Regardless of it being good or bad.

   Looking forward to see new young faces, local drama really need more young & pretty female artistes as there’re hardly anyone with potential, except kola zhou . Hopefully to see Eurasian or exotic faces to reflect our multi-racial society.

   the supernatural, investigative thriller and the year end anniversary drama seem caught my attention.

   is it possible for the artistes involved in the filming of New Beginnings to be involved in the 3 dramas i’ve stated above? if yes, i hope to see Jesseca in one of them, especially the investigative thriller or the year end anniversary drama. many of us out there would love to hear her singing and also see her in another drama genre

   (Paul: Usually the shooting schedules would be an ongoing one at the same time so can’t really jump in and out of different dramas…)

    Realise Felicia’s 9pm shows normally pops up in the second half.

    Anyway yes do get Rui En and Jeanette in the CID show.
    Rui En did mention she would like to try another police drama..

    Or if they want somebody else, Fel and Jean would do great too!

    the shows for the 2nd half seem interesting (: really hope felicia will be involved in at least one of them coz she current doesnt have any new show (other than the msian co-prod) hope to see her in either the investigative thriller or “a song to remember”

    i tink rui en would suit the role of the role of the CID officer. ((: hope to see her in this drama too!

    by the way, did u arrange the shows in chronological order? like in the order of the dates they air?

    i really hope felicia can get one drama at least…don’t dissapoint her fans!=( we are still waiting for good news…she has no new local dramas till now=(

    i suggest putting her in the Investigative thriller dramaa…2 female leads..
    i suggest trying out felicia and rui en in that show!!will looks great!and male leads put in elvin and dai yang tian!

    So cool 2 know the new dramas nw. But may I suggest tt for the year-end musical drama, we hav a BIG CAST and feature 4 or 5 newscasters. And btw, must include Felicia and Jeanette Aw in the big cast.

    hi paul, pairing RE and JA for the CID show is great since JA also mentioned in one of her interviews that she doesn’ mind. Also don’t forget to pair JA and DYT for the 3+1 cooking show in December this year. would love to see them in a more “casual” manner; at least for once. tku

    i just hope jeanette to get something different… Like lawyer or cid or actually a good to evil songstremess is good… Jeanette is known for able tondance look at the trade show.. Like a snake.. N she look good in 30s image…i feel it alright ti get the same group of people casted in the same type of drama … Hk tvb do that too… Saw jeanette new endorsement..new moon ad! New moon all the while been using fann n sun yan zi…now they use jeanette am sure it proof jeanette status.. My opinion , no one need to agree… Hope to see more of jeanette.. Best is jeanette n ah wu!

    Oh no, definitely no kids from Campus SuperStars, didn’t the viewers make nasty remarks about their look. hehehe

    We need someone with the look & height of a model, say between the age of 18 to 23 years old. Taiwan market being bigger have lots of pretty models like 林嘉綺, 隋棠,白歆惠 entering the entertainment industry and young 混血美女 like Liz.

    We’ll be fortunate if we could see at least 1 such new face.

    Yeah, Paul, you are so right. You ought to get Jeanette and Rui En since many want them to pair up. And Jeanette hardly taken up any CID dramas though I thought she will look cool and these roles suit her to perfection. (She took CID in 2006 with TPH and QYU) Looking forward to JEANETTE AND RUI EN in the new CID drama.

    The lawyer should also get Jeanette. She is fluent and have the POWER of mouth to make herself heard. She can be really fierce at times and firm on her stand.

    Idol drama-Maybe younger artistes like DAWN YEOH. Unfortunately, Jeanette is 30 le. But she still looks young. So you guys may consider her.

    I hope to see Joshua Ang and Teresa Tseng in the 2010 new shows. Long time never see them leh. I think Joshua will appear in “Your Hand is Mine”, but teresa no news leh. Hope can consider Teresa in future shows ok? She speaks good mandarin & sings well.\ Maybe can act in the show that involve music.

    That show got10 original songs? Don’t think that happens in a MCS show right? I recall the last was in 2007 “Let it Shine” but that time i recall only have about 6 songs in the show.

    Great if you can bring Ivy back for the Investigative Drama…I am sure she can assume that role ….the other lead can be Paige Chua …
    Sounds like an interesting year ahead for MC TV.
    But not again JA or DYT for year-end drama ….like that sure ‘overkill’….give others a chance?
    I got this strange feeling that Nat Ho will be cast in the Idol drama following success of Polo Boys … hmmmm…..
    As for the year-end drama, looks like that seasoned actors stand a good chance given the story plot ….

    what happen to the 2 ah jies put in fridge already? although fann still got overseas commitmment but singapore still need her a lot to act. she used to shoot 1 to 2 local dramas per year.. she was not in the list of 2010.. zoe tay is even worst. after her birth of 2nd child she got 3 dramas in the year 2008, but after T.U seriously dont know what happen to her like MIA zero exposures for drama. apart from attending all those top labels opening at ION, practically she was not given any new tasks.

    hope to see zoe tay in the career woman drama those woman on top role.. she can deliver those job well and play good career woman. hope to see fann wong in yr end BB, maybe a evil cunning songtress role.. we have enough of her goody role.. its time for her to do sth diff.

    we want to see IVY lee too. get her to shoot one drama before she left to hk…

    Excellent suggestion! Jeanette should try to be the police, to be in a commanding type of role instead of always being so submissive. Rui En can then have her choice of trying darker roles as undercover. And we fans of both side can FINALLY see them on screen together. Girls power!

    We wont mind seeing them casted in opp roles as I mentioned, because Rui En as police and Jeanette as informant, equally challenging on their acting and for fans, we would love to see them in either of the roles.

    And maybe I am really over-sensitive “gung-ho upcoming songstress” made me link to Rui En. But wait, its a blockbuster, I don’t dare to link Rui En to blockbusters. Better stick to the police/lawyer shows. I hope to have another Rui En police classic. Goodness, more girls would be inspired to be a cop :/

    希望不需要再见到郭淑贤与许美珍同台演出了。她们在《手足1》，《手足2》，《书包太重》，《企鹅爸爸》和明年年头的《好过年》同台演出，而且《企》剧与《好》 剧只是相隔一部台庆剧《当我们同在一起》。或许是因为李锦梅的即将离去及黄碧仁的退隐，再加上许多女演员被《想握你的手》锁住，监制在CAST成熟女角色时，自然而然的重用ANN与CYNTHIA。因为MEDIACORP很缺乏这类型成熟的女演员，除了她们俩，希望监制也会考虑四十出头的女演员如：林梅娇，洪惠芳，向云，因为她们也可以胜任有余，而不是一味的让她们演阿嫂角色。你看香港的邓萃雯，邵美琪，毛舜均，郭可盈，张可颐都可以胜任任何角色。当然，这也要看高层的意愿，有时候不是监制的问题。

    另一点值得注意的是该給郑斌辉多元化的角色了。发现这几年来他的角色并不怎么突出。除了在近期《添丁发财》演一个小男人有小小突破之外，其他的角色就有大同小异之感。近来发现监制给了陈汉玮许多草根且突破又发挥的角色，也希望监制也会考虑到郑斌辉，因为他因该有所突破了，他应该停止演青春剧了。MEDIACORP也应该考虑停止让郑斌辉配七公主了，他已经跟欧萱，刘芷绚，姚懿珊，陈靓萱，白薇秀合作过了，只差谢宛瑜及芮恩。虽然郑斌辉还未达到四十岁，因为年纪的差距，感觉上好像是阿叔配小妹。但明年他还是会继续与欧萱和刘芷绚在《红白喜事》同台合作演出。

    We all saw how she has nicely merged into the CID role.. she will portray it well.. Or maybe she can be the informant too… seems like a very challenging role:)

    从晚间报章得知到中国大陆发展的陈美心即将回新与王沺裁合演剧集！这十三集的剧集将会在U频道播出！在此我倒有个提议；不如让美心也参予青春偶像剧！以她青春甜美的外形，再加上这些年在中国的努力耕耘及获得好评，她是绝对有资格的！不妨考虑！
    还有就是希望欧萱真的会与瑞恩同剧演出CID, 这是我期待以久的！最好是让她饰演“线人”这类她从未尝试过的角色！当然我更是希望她再有机会参予年度大制作“A Song To Rememder ”，只因为她非常适合三十年代复古装扮，而且是非常的漂亮，她肯定是饰演歌女的最佳人选！

    I hope to see Zoe Tay in the year end bb ” A Song to Remember”….but she might not be the 1st main lead….let her play a mother role…but still she is one of the main lead…
    can let any one of the princess become her daughter….
    since this is the bb of 2010….
    Mediacorp should really make their own queen shine again….
    it’s a greater chance for Zoe to claim back her former kingdom….
    kind of shame if MDC put the queen in fridge….

    More importantly, don’t repeat the mistake in TU again…
    Zoe is a good actor….give her a role that really suitable for her
    see how WangMingQuan always get a good role and more specically, it’s suitable for her, like important mother role or something….

    MDC should really try make ZOE == WMQ, since two of them are the queen of sg and hk entertainment…instead of put her in the fridge…

    let the queen back while mdc rises the princess at the same time…
    you cant neglect either one of them…

    Rui En would be extremely suitable for both the police/investigative and the lawyer drama!

    In fact it would be very interesting to see her in the informant role.

    I would like to see Paige Chua and Elvin Ng pair up and become the new onscreen lovers. I think they will look great together.

    Meanwhile, more Jeanette, Tay Ping Hui, Li Nan Xing and Fann.

    I really hope can see the other princesses in the blockbuster too except JA, DYT…… Cause last / this year already got them into the top few long drama, too much can be scary too @@ cause see them until too much…… So I suggest better put them into those shorter film, with different theme, like modern theme, do not need keep giving them the 30s, 60s, etc, too much is too overpowering…….. I like to watch the hong kong show, cause although they will try to promote those people they like/want to promote, but they will swap/alternate etc, especially the theme or background of the show…… if you keep putting 30s, 60s, etc, then same people, I will surely say bye bye to that show, sorry to say that, I love channel 8 but really need to alternate……. Its like the bubble tea, the roti mum/whatever was that trend, although very popular last time, but when it is too much, it dies down……. Cause really too much!

    And can have shows on very interesting jobs? like last time fann’s (stock market） 步步为赢， although short but those show i like……. Then the tay ping hui’s 随心所欲 quite interesting too!

    Cause japan show is interesting cause they got shows that talk about air pilot, hairdresser, artist, many different jobs, then the hong kong also try different police department, 法证／法医　advertisiment jobs, airport jobs, firemen, special rescue team, the triads etc……

    All very diverse theme, but why singapore recently don’t have? Last time I like 豆腐街 cause once in a while change a theme very interesting. I also like the show about doctor, nurses, or 法医, x-file type, detective type, cause got changes…… then navy, airforce, army, then sometimes 古装片, then sometimes ghost story, then sometimes love story 七月俏佳人, why do we always get stuck to family, or 30s 60s, baby story, once they are popular?

    So Singapore also can ah…… chose those very special occupations, or very professional jobs which we will never be able to know of, then we want to see….. like stock market, airport, courtroom, police, engineering, hotel management, tour guide…….

     I think we should be bold to try new cast instead of the same few people… there are many potential artistes who need to be groomed.

     take for example zhen shi mei. now there’s repeat of he shui shan every saturday and i think she’s really into the character and it’s very convincing. moreover she has got the looks.

     and now the newcomer xu ya hui. can see her acting improving. i’m from the same jc as her and she can dance well. she definitely got the potential to be unleashed. should give her a chance to take part in the A song to remember.

     she might not be the most popular actress now, she is no doubt one of the most popular actress in Singapore and is one of the most successful actress in Singapore (although in overseas commitment wise i think fann still rules a lot and no one comes near her). Zoe done tons of Nu Qiang Ren and Aunties roles interchangbly… let her to be one cougar or lao chu nu (old maid) role.. at the age of 39.9999 still waiting for mr right. Let the role be she used to have the looks in 20s and early 30s. but due to high expectation of her.. she is labelled as Lao Chu Nu. Let one of the princess be her competitor and always insult her of being Lao Chu Nu. Lee Nan Xin can dont act in the drama, but can cut those old dramas clip of zoe and lnx, put it as zoe tay role still miss those ”glam” days a lot and still think she is chio and want to wait for someone successful like LNX to come… one day she met Tay Ping Hui… a very poor guy.. nth, practically nth… den accidentally have sex with him den have baby. and her life is being messed up with more story…

     actually sometimes i think mediacorp can make use of the old clips like zoe tay and lnx, fann and tph or chris… to do some linkages when they are like day dreaming or reflecting the past…

     谈到年度大制作该不该再用欧萱，我的看法是；既然她的复古造型最适合也最漂亮，舞蹈底子也最佳，演技更是越见精湛，饰演能歌善舞的歌女最适合不过了，为何不趁她正火热时打铁趁热再次让她参予年度大制作呢？希望监制在选女主角时不妨再次考虑她！

     From insider tip off ( 100PERCENT ACURATE ) … Fann wong and jeanette will be the embassordor for the new moon brand. Sun Yan zi no longer endorsing. Jeanette aw took photos for a few products already ( rice, abalone, frozen food and chicken essense ) at wee khim studio.. So am sure as the day come all these poster will be launch and the question that she only endorse frozen food issue will clear because she also doing high end products like abalone.

     Hope these clear those ” new moon ” interested people query. So to those people who say she only endorse ” not so high end product” to really take back your words. heehee..

     Since the “Niang Re” fever is down, why not lift it up again? Get Jeanette and Joanne to lift it up again by giving both of them a chance to collaborate together again in “A Song To Remember”. Throw in a strong bunch of veterans into the show to support them. And please, if you need any couple to go along with Jeanette, QI YU WU!!!! Dai Yang Tian should act as couple with Felicia Chin.      见鬼? It’s a supernatural genre but not the scary long hair in white robe 贞子 type but expect a light-hearted plus heart-warming genre about a male ghost (lead role) who befriends the man (also lead role) responsible indirectly for his death…casting almost complete…

     You get to see a new drama about 3 Women caught up with a baby. They are not your typical housewives or homemakers but women-on-top, women-in-charged kind of working ladies. The story will start off with a TV production trying to film ‘奶爸百分百 Daddy Nanny 2′…

     I guess the filming for the above 2 would start around Mar/Apr? So maybe Meizhen can be involve? I predict Wu Fu Dao filming end around Jan/Feb, so she still can rest before filming of any of it?

     Yes, the year end anniversary drama ‘A Song To Remember’ will be a whole new genre with its own audio soundtrack and an album of more than 10 original songs. It’s the late 30s and will involve many stars. A 天才 musician, a gung-ho upcoming songstress, a good-to-evil songstress, a modern day ‘Robinhood’, etc…you get the colorful cabaret set plus lots of songs and dance movie pacing kind of a drama genre written by the writer behind ‘The Little Nyonya’ and ‘Together’.

     If (i say if) meizhen got into the ghost and women one, the filming would have end around June/July? By right, Meizhen can try to involve in this blockbuster mah.

     The police and idol drama, would be better for 20+ artiste and the princess, hope Meizhen can get into 2 of it.

     Maybe can match him and Cynthia together, because LNX say in i-weekly that he have fun acting with Cynthia in The Ultimatum, as it shows how a family live together happily although they isn’t rich plus he mention Cynthia acting is good.

     Maybe this time round can cast them as a rich family?

     Now that I have wrote what I say above, maybe that can be under the babies and mother show, perhaps should put in pat also.

     I don’t remember seeing pat playing mother and career woman, this would be a challenge.

     I’d really like to see Rui En as informant. Because of her previous role as AXQ in Meta, I think people will tend to compare the roles of both CID, and it’ll be either good or bad. An informant is a role that consist of betrayal, which will be a very challenging role.

And we are soooo excited over the launch on the advertisements on TV as well as on shopping malls. Together with ‘together’, the launch of her new series of advertisements and drama will push her career to a new high. This end of year period may juz be the time when she affirmed her status as AH-JIE. If its another breakthrough role and award winning role, she would gain more fans and even legion of endorsements deals.

     Even Zoe Tay would get some credit on her sharpness in identifying the new generation AH-JIE. WOW!

     But its too early to say. JUST WISH FOR THE BEST IN THE FINAL FIGHT. Its time for JA to win the crown and secure it tightly… LOLS

     What rubbish are you blabbering about? Do you think that Fann Wong can be Number1 forever? She is already married and reaching 40. Just like Zoe. Why cant you give somebody else a chance to take over that position.

     Changes are everywhere. You cant expect New Moon to use this particular celebrity for more than 10years. You should give changes and opportunities to others. Give other people a chance to excel and show their potential. You are very selfish to say that new Moon made a new mistake. If all the companies stick to your tagline ”only use the No1”, they will suffer such a huge loss.

     Nobody can be forever number1 and its time to give newbies a chance. Its people like you who have this kind of old and tradition thinking. You people will never make it big. Never having the courage to take risks, never giving others a chance to prove themselves, PEOPLE WITH THIS KIND OF THINKING ARE BOUND TO FAIL IN LIFE!

     Risks need to be undertaken. I, however, feel that New Moon managing committee is a shrewd businessman. They know that changes need to be made, risks need to undertaken and opportunities need to be given to let others prove themselves.

     They made another great choice for JA to be the new ambassador. Together with her new drama, using her rising popularity and letting her gain greater exposure to the TV, NEW MOON abalone, etc, will be sold out before the Chinese New Year approaches. And JA popularity is rising steadily and huge hordes of fans. So even if she is not number1 now, she still can be number1 in the future.

     I believe that New Moon trust JA ability. They have a new and modern mindset. They dont stick to all the Number1 in Singapore. They dare to take risks, they have courage, they trust in others to bring out the best in the PRODUCTS.

     Your comment here show the OLD and CHILDISH mindset of the past. We are living in the 21st Century and its a shame that people like you are still living in the 1950s. You should take this opportunity watch ‘together’ to see how Singaporeans mindset changes after the war to the 2000s. I would also recommend you to buy some upgrading books to improve your thinking and change this very STUPID mindset of yours.

     I think Ruien is a really good actress, her attitude and the way she thinks so differently and her courage to be different, to be herself. And i think she performs every role she gets really well, and i think she is capable to take on any of the roles given I, myself, would really really really like to see her as a CID, Informant or maybe even a lawyer as i think her attitude and style fits these roles really well And i believe that she’ll do a great job, as usual Really looking forward to ‘Happy family’ and seeing a whole new Ruien that requires her to be a cheerful and carefree girl. I believe, or, rather, know, that she’s capable of taking up challenging roles.      Well, i was thinking that it would be really marvellous if there will be more dramas of Rui En, not because she is popular but because she has what it takes to act. There has been many discussions about her acting as a CID or Informant.. But i think that these are still like her previous roles of being cool.

     Was thinking why not Rui En acting something that is darker..like probably a FBI. I realised that S’pore do not have many dramas on this genre. It gives me the feel that it is something more than police, yet things are carried out about the same way CID carries them out. So i would definitely like to see her acting as an FBI, secretive and dark, something challenging and mysterious..

     Only 3 dramas were good so far this year.. Reunion Dinner, Housewives Holidays and Baby Bonus. And i realised most dramas this year were light-hearted family dramas and the likes.

     So whoever’s acting in the upcoming dramas aside, i’m still quite excited by the genres popping up in the second half of 2010!

     Ghost, Police, Idol, Lawyer and Singing! Like omg??

     Looks like we have a “drama revolution” next year. Awesome! (:

     Thanks for your long comment. I’ve taken the courtesy to actually read the whole chunk of it. Come to think about it, yeah I forgotten to give credibility to JA for her outstanding luck in TLN that pushed her to greater heights.

     I dare to say four or 5 years ago, where was JA? Now, she’s close to 30 and it just got kick-start on her fame & success. Fann & Zoe were different league altogether. The point that I want to say is that the lather were so much well-liked much earlier in their careers & their fan base are still going strong too.

     I fully understand this line in which they push the newbies up to the front & gain maximum exposure. It was the same for Fann Wong and Zoe last time too! Guess it’s only a matter of time they would have to face the problem the senior actors face.

     Not that I’m pinning JA down or what. In fact, I pretty support her among the others as well. But it was Fann Wong who had done so much and set the ’standards’ of what’s achievable. So naturally, there’ll forever be a comparison on what the local celebs can and cannot do. Seriously no a mindset of the 1950s too!

     It’s now a conclusion on whether are these ‘new’ people really up to standards and willing to push themselves to greater heights (and certainly, premium endorsements are justifiable too).

     Anyway, I’m still pretty sure Fann Wong’s still the ambassador for New Moon. Taking the risk of using new faces is not the un-norm in ad industry so I’m not saying recruiting JA into their endorsements is a sure-doom.

     Really surprises me that you changes your tone so fast. WOW. You actually praised JA for her show in TLN. But you used that particular sarcastic tone of yours which made me feel extremely irritated. What do you mean by outstanding luck? JA gained recognition over TLN due to her hard work, great acting skills, etc. It’s not due to luck. If its is, every actress will become popular overnight.

     4to5years ago, JA was in huge demand after acting Holland V, Spice siblings, A child Hope 2 and The Champions. She was the MOST popular young actress in the industry. During that period, most of the princesses either just enter the industry or isn’t as popular as her. And she was almost in the league of ZOE&FANN during her 25-26yrs. She has quite a number of advertisements and already gotten 2 best actress nomination and somewhat best kiss with TPH in the Spice Siblings. However, she sort of go down from that period. I believed its due to the surge and rise of younger actresses. And some of them have taken the good roles and started competing with her.

     You gotta understand that ZOE&FANN has not much competitors during 1990s. They were the main princesses. Now, we have the 7princesses. 7? And huge horde of younger stars, etc. Mediacorp is VERY crowded. And for JA toe excel and beat the younger actresses is no mean feat. Each of the 7princesses have GREAT potential and to outdo each and every single one of them is no easy feat. And now, each and every single one of the 7princesses still has their chances to rise and become the NEW ah jie. Competition is this stiff. ZOE AND FANN does not even have competition. Only each other rivalry.

     So for JA to be able to gain this much fame and success when she was 29 was no easy feat. There are so much competition between each other and to be able to rise above others is not easy. Yes, she is older but can any of the princesses come to this stage when they hit 30? Maybe too early to say. But lets take a example. Jesseca Liu is also 30 now. But she still has the chance to make it to ah jie. So my point is, even you are 30 now, you still have the chance.

     So hope you understand that New Moon chose JA because she is one of the best and rising starlets in the industry. She is also one of the top of the 7princesses.

     My mentioned you having the thinking of the 50s is because you have this very traditional thinking of using the powerful actresses. Only using the BEST. But nobody is forever number1, they can be easily replaced. Why dont give the chances to rising stars like Jeanette Aw? And for the ad industry, its the norm now. Who wants to pay the BEST and popular that much money? Younger and rising stars are more affordable. Ad industry are bound to fail if they just stick to the BEST and VERY BEST. If thats the fact, do you see the BEST AND NUMBER1 stars appearing in tv commercial? Do you see Fann Wong appearing on ads everyday? This is RETARDED. Your thinking is still very wrong.

     Therefore, I suggest that you stay at home at 9pm on 30thNovember. To watch how Singaporeans changes their thinking and mindset after the WAR and progresses into the 2000s. Your thinking is even worst than my Grandmother.

     Hmm…actually what is the definition of 熟女? Older that 30? JA will be 31 next year. RE will be 29, which is near 30. Plus their acting skills and the appropriate clothing and make-up, they should be able to fit the roles?

     I really hope the RE can be in this drama. If you all find a police role being a repetitive one for her, then can give her an informant role. I think she will be good at playing a role that is mysterious with hidden emotions.

     I don’t think it’s fair to say that Zoe and Fann had no competition back in those days. They had competition such as Chen Liping who was so popular after her Aiyoyo teacher role! Zoe had to compete with Liping and Chen Xiuhuan (who has since retired from showbusiness) from 1988-1994, as well as Zeng Hui Fen (who was very popular in the late 1980s), Pan Ling Ling, Aileen Tan etc. From 1994 onwards, she had to battle with Fann, Ivy, Ann and all the other up-and-coming princesses back then – Phyllis Quek, Jacelyn Tay, Evelyn Tan etc. Fann also had to endure the competition from these newer actresses, especially Phyllis who was eyeing the overseas market as well (and was Fann’s closest competitor outside of Singapore). How / why on earth would you think the two Queens had it easier in their time?

     On another note, I would really like to see Zoe in the career woman role. She can be the sort who fools around with guys, and makes them do her bidding in order for her to ascend the corporate ladder. I think that would be an interesting role for her!

     As for Fann, somehow I think she and Christopher would want to focus on making babies. Haha. Give her a break to have her baby and let her return in 2011 with a big bang.

     Cynthia Koh, Ann Kok, Yvonne Lim?

     If this the case, I hope it Cynthia Koh, partly because she is good (not saying the others are not), but Yvonne Lim involve in police show like True Heroes, Metamorphosis. Ann Kok ‘Dark To Strike’ is similar in some parts and she involve in alot of uniform drama/profession base. Would be better if she can cast in different genre of drama. ;-

     If this the case, then Cynthia Koh would unlikely to get involve in the blockbuster (as some requested it above). Whatever it is, I will still watch Cynthia Koh drama. She a good actress.

     Well, then I hope that Yvonne Lim can get the role of an informant in the CID drama. Because she did brillantly in Metamorphosis and eventually won the Best Actress Award in 2007. I believe she would be able to portray that character just as well as Wen Wanrou. Actually I do miss seeing Yvonne Lim and Rui En in Metamorphosis. It would be good if both of them get to cooperate in that CID show again.

     Just something which I would like to voice out and hopefully will be taken into consideration by MDC. Many ppl think Rui En is not very suitable for the songstress role but I feel otherwise. Yes, the setting is in the 1930s but why can’t Rui En portray a role in that generation just because she looks very modern in real life? If you watch the HK drama ” The Charm Beneath” which featured the Genre of 1920’s – 1930’s costume , Yoyo Mung looks very modern too but look at how pretty she can be in the drama when she is wearing the costumes during that generation. It’s good to give Rui En a try and who knows.. all of us may be taken back by surprise at how good she will look like.

     I think Zoe’s career peaked in 1991 and she stayed there for the next few years till 1996-1997 when Fann Wong overtook her in terms of popularity with her portrayal of Xiao Long Nv in The Legend of The Condor Heros. Zoe was 23 back then and Fann was 25-26.

     Zoe was the first Asian spokeswoman for Lux in 1991-1992! She released her first pictorial in 1995, at the age of 27 and she was the first female artiste in Singapore to do so. Fann released her debut album in 1997 when she made her break into the Taiwanese market – the first for a MCS (then TCS) artiste. That was when she was 26!

     There’s a reason why the two of them have been upgraded to Queen status and none of the other ah-jies-in-waiting have! And I think Jeanette will have a lot more to catch up these two years in order to join their ranks – Felicia and Joanne have slightly more time since they’re only 25 and 26.

     见鬼: Sounds like a nice idea but yet at the same time, it feels like the Taiwan drama Lao Wang Tong Xue Hui. Can’t wait to see the casting.

     3 Women: So that would be next year’s drama headed by our females! Personally, I would love to see a mixture for this. Perhaps mix the younger and older actresses? It would be interesting to see how people of different ages actually deal with the “baby”.

     Idol drama + Water sport…hmmm…Not water polo i guess? haha. I like the range of actors and actresses we got on Rainbow Connection so hopefully, it’s something like that.

     new investigative thriller: YES I AGREE. Rui En and Jeanette may actually work out really well. Just a gut feeling. Rui En has the calm and cool personality to carry off a female inspector and if Jeanette acts as a nerdy analyst, I think that would also be a breakthrough for her. I hope IF IF IF Rui En does star in this, she could have a diferent styling from Metamorphosis. (I hope Tay Ping Hui won’t be a police anymore)

     ‘Lawyers’: I really hope to new intriguing and and a mixture of small and large domestic affairs. (I predict family violence? haha) When I saw the word Lawyers, Ivy Lee came into my mind. She did win Best Actress for a role like that so…yea. (I kinda miss her) Definitely no Joanne after her half a year long Lawyer character.

     New pending genre: It shoulld be something light I guess..

     ‘A Song To Remember’: I know I’m gonna love this show already. I have faith in the cast of all the BBs so far and I’m sure the best are going to be in here. Hopefully some actresses and actors who really sing in it would be good. I would like Jeanette to be part of it but at the same time, people would see it as an overkill.

     (will there ever be a LNY soundtrack?..the music for LNY was fantastic! Hopefully this drama would have that dramatic music and sorts)

     The line-up looks pretty good on paper, interesting and diverse genres. I’m liking it so far. Are these all 9pm shows? What are the plans for the 7pm slot after Your Hand In Mine ends in mid-2010?

     But Hong Rongdi again to write the year-end blockbuster drama? Isn’t this four years in a row now? (TGP in 2007, TLN in 2008, Together in 2009, and now the 2010 blockbuster.) I hope others can get a chance too.

     Also, if there’s going to be another sports drama next year I hope it’s written by a scriptwriter who understands sports and is a sports fan, and can portray the jubilation and heartbreak that goes on in real sports. (Watch the unbridled joy and celebration when players score a goal in football matches, the way fans cry when their team is relegated, etc.) In Table of Glory the main protagonist had this dull, numb reaction to everything around him, he didn’t even look happy after he won the championship in the last episode. And the show spent more time on scenes of Kym Ng and Zheng Geping bickering and the plot to get them to sell their shophouses than on table tennis. Makes you wonder if the scriptwriter really “gets” sports.
