She was only 12 years old then when she fell into a coma. A freak car accident killed her entire family on her 12^th years old birthday…

She woke up some 13 years later. She is now a 25 years old young lady. Yet, she is forced to face reality like a 12 years old kid ’trapped’ in the body of this grown up woman with no families and friends to turn to…

The only fragment of memory she had was that last phone call she overheard her father telling someone to get off his family. It is a race against time to outwit the evil. To do so, she will have to ‘grow’ up fast enough to challenge a world so filled with uncertainties and a dark force so evil even her existence could be in grave danger…谁说“天网恢恢，疏而不漏”，她就要破、天、网…

破天网 is the new contemporary 2010 year end drama (the musical drama slated for year end is now delayed to year end 2011 as it requires a lot of more preparation time). Written by the same man behind ‘出路 Stepping Out’, ‘小娘惹 The Little Nyonya’, ‘黄金路 The Golden Path’, ‘当我们同在一起 Together’ aka 洪荣狄, the full script is being developed now and casting will begin thereafter…

Her 2 ‘guardian angels’ (2 male lead roles) include a young autistic chap (self proclaimed to be 280 years old) who is brilliant in solving puzzles and mysteries and a rouge ex-lawyer (38 years old)…

The drama will require an actress in her 20s who still has that ‘child innocence’ in her to play the pivotal role. The autistic role must be played by a very good actor as it is an odd ball and not an easy role to play well…

   Koh Yah Hwee for that childlike but brave young lady (the 7 princesses have been too overused), Qi Yuwu (i remember one of his first roles as some crazy dude Yong Song in one of the 90s dramas… he could handle such a role easily) for that strange chap. Dai Yang Tian could do as the strange chap too (he did well as a post-prison Xiao Bei).

   oh, and agree with ahaha for the choice of Thomas Ong as rouge ex-lawyer. Edmund is a little bit too clean cut and TPH has played too many similar roles.

   Lead actress can be either rui en or felicia chin since felicia has 1 show so far for 2010. A young actor to play the autistic one? Can’t think of any good ones.. Rogue ex lawyer give tph! Very fit!

    Hello Paul,

    I immediately thought of Tay Ping Hui for the lawyer! Suits him! Alternatively can get Adrian Pang (but he’s leaving soon right?) or Pierre Png (does he look a little too young though? He is still so youthful). Or perhaps even Chen Hanwei (maybe can give him a normal role so that his detractors will see that he does not need to rely on image to deliver a good performance!)

    As for the young autistic chap, I think can give Zzen the chance! He’s natural in his acting!!! It’s so much more comfortable watching him on TV rather than Dai Yang Tian or even Elvin Ng. There’s really not many other alternatives already. Alan Tern? Chen Bangjun? Hmmms. Nat Ho? BIG NO!!!

    Finally the main actress! That’s really tough. Rui En seems to be a fine choice. Otherwise how about Dawn Yeoh? Or even Paige Chua. Rebecca Lim hasn’t honed her acting skills yet, I think – otherwise she’d be a good choice. Don’t really think Felicia Chin nor Joanne Peh fits the bill. Jeanette Aw – I think she suits the evil songstress role more.

    I think Fiona Xie fits in the role. provided the EP decides to use her.

    Guys wise, Tay Pinghui is good for the rouge, and Thomas Ong for the mystery guy

    (Paul: FX? Don’t think so bah…Thomas Ong cannot take on the mystery guy bec that requires someone in his 20s)

    no need to ask us lah…all of us know that the endearing role of this girl will (again) go to JA. No need to guess one!
    As for the autistic chap, it is either DYT or Elvin Ng, and the rouge ex-lawyer will be Qi Yu Wu or TPH.
    *yawn* ….if that is what the GODS plan to cast this series.
    HOWEVER, if the GODS dare to give my recommendations a go…I would suggest,
    Dawn Yeoh for the girl,
    Desmond Tan for the autistic guy.
    Zheng Ge Ping for the rouge.

    I suggest Jesseca Liu for the female role. She does look young and innocent and besides, she has a natural flair and talent for acting. She acts naturally like veterans stars like Ann Kok, hence she is really the ideal choice. Perhaps this might be her breakthrough role?

    Pls no more Jeanette Aw and DYT for year end drama unless mediacorp wants to create some 戴欧 drama series, ppl wil gets sick and annoyed eventually..

    Anyway, i wouldn’t recommend any of the 7 princesses for the role as they r all either looked too mature (all of them) or too tall (Jesseca, Joanne).. Maybe give it to super minorities such as mei xin (sorry i dont like her, neither a fan) as she looked naive (more than dawn yeoh), though she cant sing well but she can act (as she did in 女婿当家) maybe this role may be a chance for her breakthrough into drama arena.. Maybe even replace obsolete fiona as the next 7th princess (i like kola zhou, paige chua better!)

    As for male leads, may be tph (he is the first man to be thought of in 40s, i dont know why) for the ex-lawyer and joshua ang (like again? same pingpong show style?), cant reallt thought of any male artisite in the age group mentioned

    actress in her 20s who still has that ‘child innocence’ in her – of course dawn yeoh lah. (she been missing so long…the impact fantastic when she appear again. she played well the blind gal who made the metal spoon bend) (bao jiak one – dont risk giv9 to any1 else wor)

    rouge ex-lawyer (38 years old)…darren lim (fantastic actor)

    (Paul: If Elvin doesn’t excel in this autistic role, his achievement as Tarzan will go down the drain…very risky but a big challenge because he has to to be able to make sure the autistic role isn’t Tarzan)

    I don’t know why. But i think rui en fits perfectly well for the female lead. As for the rogue lawyer, Thomas Ong/Terence Cao will be a good choice. For that autistic chap, hmm. that’s really hard to choose, as it needs someone with alot of depth & acting skills to be able to potray well.

    If its the Princess, i think let Felicia or Dawn do it….Er, though i like JA & Rui En, based on what you write, i somehow don’t think they are suitable.

    As for guys, i think Thomas as lawyer, and Elvin Ng as weido. Qi Yuwu also sounded suitable for both roles. No offence to DYT, but i think he more suitable in idol shows now.

    If its freshie , maybe can try Chen Banjun & Yuan Shuai, Kola, Teresa Tseng for gals.

    Plot sounded interesting. No offence, but can the promotional wording not be the “SAME team behind ‘出路 Stepping Out’, ‘小娘惹 The Little Nyonya’, ‘黄金路 The Golden Path’,…….”, i think this puts people off…….shadow behind TLN….something refreshing ok ???

    Felicia Chin definitely suits the role!

    For male roles, I think 715 + TPH are the best.

    why? she is 25 years old, she has the child innocence still(u also mention before if im nt wrong last time)..most impt, she has been improvin in her acting. Adding on, she so far 1 show only, n this will be perfect to be her 2nd show..so hope the producer choose her.

    for the autistic chap: elvin or jerry will be my choice..jerry good at acting, but he may be unfree for this, so elvin the next choice

    for the lawyer, tph bah…

    Young autistic chap… How about Desmond Tan? I believe he’ll portray it well, judging from his performance in Together.
    Female lead… I think Ya Hui will do it well and fits the role.
    Btw, is there only one female lead and two male leads for this show? Is the autistic role or the rogue ex-lawyer the male lead? Will there be a second lead for the female?

    this sure sounds like an interesting drama.yea koh yah hwee does sound suitable.but im always up for seeing kola on screen.and her age suits the role too.

    as for the autistic chap, it sounds like the kind of strange roles that takuya kimura always get but which he always manages to make it seem like a really cool role instead.

    hmmm for some reason i actually thought of nat ho when i read abt the autistic chap.or maybe zzen?(im q biased towards the cute looking zzen lately)

    as for the rogue lawyer…act im a bit sick of seeing thomas ong lately esp since hes gng to star in the magician show soon.maybe pierre?good looking, ok acting, and i thk pierres gt the face that can star in both good or bad roles.

    when i see the brief outline n character, i knew feli will be suitable for this role..age wise, she fit into it comfortably..acting skills, she has a certain standard n with a gd script n character development, she will be able to pull it off well..certainly looking forward.

    the young autistic guy could be given to elvin,715 or zhang yaodong..715 will be my first choice actually, his acting skill is seasoned enough n this role shld let ppl see a diff him..

    the rougue lawyer could be given to TPH like some suggested..or maybe we can try zhang yao dong? but doubt so since he is nt tt old la…38yearsold..

    I love to see 汉玮哥 in big production drama. It will definitely increase viewership.

    (Paul: I am not sure if a tall and bigger size actress is suitable to play the female lead because a child lying in bed for 13 years wouldn’t have grown too much…maybe I am wrong…not sure…)

    Lead actress – Paige Chua (I think it’s time for her to take up a heavy role since she has proved herself as a good actress by nominated best supporting actress 2010. She looks around 25 and got the innocence and natural feel so I think image wise she does fit. (no more act cute actress or too tall actress cos not suitable)

    Ex-lawyer male lead – Tay Ping Hui (Obviously he is the best choice since the age is 38 years old which is around his real age, and I think he is suitable for such cheeky role.

    Young chap lead role – Get Taiwan actor Gao Yi Xiang to act (he is good looking and recently came to sg and appeared in cooking variety show.) no more DYT pls. Look at Gao Yi Xiang Godfrey so handsome and tall , I think DYT and our other young male actors all can’t hold a candle to him.

    I was instantly reminded of Rui En but I’m not hopeful of her chance in this show.

    Anyway, the roles of the autistic chap and the female leads seem to be quite tough in terms of casting if acting, popularity & suitability has to be balanced. Not to forget the potential of exposure fatigue too.

    Adrian Pang would have been a good choice as the rouge lawyer, but there’s Thomas Ong too, or the same old Edmund Chen and Chen Hanwei.

    Interesting concept, especially the female lead, retaining the childhood innocence without appearing like a childish act cute adult, quite a challenge for the actress. Interesting.

    Maybe you should talk more about the other female lead role so we can talk more about not just the female lead but the other one too. An evil role sounds very interesting to develop! Anyway how’s my suggestion for Desmond Tan as the autistic chap? Really think he suits the role. He has a very quiet guy look yet he still looks smart

    when you describe, and when i was reading through your paragraph, only 1 person in mind, Rui En, fullstop.
    cos, this show reminds me of metamorphosis, and Rui En definitely has the baby-like look..
    in my opinion, no other people can fit in this role better than her, despite all the other reasons, why who and who should be in this role, i think, Rui En’s simply born to take this role… cheers

    BTW Paul I tink Terence is good! So long nvr see him acting in a lead role already. Put him, Zzen and Dawn Yeoh tgtr!!! I think Dawn Yeoh and only Dawn Yeoh fits the role. Child-like innocence only DAWN YEOH! And she is believable!!! Zzen’s acting is gooooood. Please make him big, I believe he can make it BIG!!! He is our hope!! Time for Zzen to shine big time!!!

    I am really happy after reading all the comments that Felicia is hot fave to get the role… So yeah for Felicia…

    BUt I think I am kind of tired watching TPH with Felicia… maybe Thomas Ong or CHW like some suggested.

    I still think ZZH is great… and that he can shine… 715 and even Jerry Yeo would be great too… BUT PLEASE! Nooooooo Elvin Ng…. He is not up to par!

    First choice: Yvonne lim has the acting chops to pull this off, the ability to headline a drama series, and does not look a day over 25.

    Second choice: Rebecca lim. The pupil showcased her ability to act, and she has alluring screen presence, the lead actress type. She jus hasn’t had the role to show it off.

    (but I agree w some other ppl here, it prob will be given to Jeanette again..)

    lead actor: dun think there are any competent male actors below 30. Thomas does look the part of the lawyer since he played it before. I give my vote to Edmund or Ming lun. For the autistic one, how bout nick shen? He’s a fantastic actor and still look 20s

    Please really consider KOLA for the female lead. She is really very good.
    Felicia is already well known for her childlike,innocent and cute attitude, I have seen her playing this kind of role several times. So try KOLA to have something new and fresh.

    For the guy, you all really have to consider Zzen for the young autistic chap.
    I dont know that he could be so good as male leading actor until I watch Priceless Wonder.
    He could make the drama become so interesting.

    For the ex-lawyer, please consider Christopher Lee, if I am not wrong I never see Chris play as a lawyer before.

    This sounds like a really promising script, hope that the whole story is tighter with twists and suspense.

    Felicia chin’s acting is not tat polished yet, she was given alot of good roles but still failed to shine, i feel tis role should be given to more deserving actresses
    For fresh faces, I recommend Kola or paige chua, them this chance to breakthrough and rise officially to the princess rank
    In terms of acting skills, Yvonne lim definitely can give depth to this role, have seen her perform really well for similar roles. Do consider too .

    For the 2 male actors:
    Rouge lawyer: either lee nanxing or Thomas – both have the charisma to pull this through. Or Christopher? Hasnt seen him in this kind of roles for awhile
    Autistic chap: zzen or shaun chen – both guys hv the potential to be the next ah ge, do give them more chances . we need another xie shaoguang for tv

    I would love Rui En doing a blockbuster and am definitely not worried whether Rui En is suitable for the role or not. That’s because…Rui En can make any role possible and alive!

    I really have this feeling that Kola can take on this female lead role well too. I sincerely plead that the casting team could give Kola a chance. She would be a fresh cast and her acting is naturally. She probably would not “overdo” in acting cute like a 12-years-old child.

    The female lead is a very challenging role. Hope that can give it to one who can act, and not one who MCS want to groom, or else it will end up spoiling the show.

    Felicia Chin fits the role well in terms of her age and youthful looks. Rui En had proved that she has the ability to play an innocent role very well in the recent Happy Family, so she suits the role too. So either one would be good.

    Thomas Ong would be the best choice for the rouge ex-lawyer. Chris Lee would be good too. Can also try with Tay Ping Hui or Chen Han Wei. haha…actually it’s not difficult to find an actor to play this role.

    But for the young autistic chap, it’s a bit difficult as there are limited MCS actors who can act well that fall in the 20s category. Can try overseas actors?

    The female lead should go to Dawn Yeoh. I think she is really innocent, no need to act. She’s 23, just nice. But she needs to do some imaging to look different from her other TV roles-change her hairdo, dressing, lose some weight. Yahhui is 2nd choice, but her acting still CMI. No Kola pls, read that she behaved like a diva during star search, not a nice & innocent lady in person. And she can’t even an acting job in her own country, bo bian then come to S’pore to act.

    The autistic chap maybe can give to Andie (it’s high time to give him a lead role), or Zhang zhenhuan or Yuan Shuai. Or maybe get Dawn real boyfriend, haha.

    The rogue lawyer (is it must be in late 30s), then maybe Thomas, cos TPH & Chris had acted with Dawn before (assuming the female lead is Dawn).

    As long as no more DYT+JA pairing. JA, JL, JP, RE & Paige are too old to look innocent. While FC is already in so many dramas (the swimming one & a Malaysia one).

     what abt trying somebody new other than the 7 princesses? i really dun tink any of them can handle the role well or fit the role’s description. the 7 princesses are overhyped!

     as for tph as lawyer, not bad but i can alr imagine him in the role which is kinda “no surprise”, if u know what i mean.

     I think fresh faces shd be injected this time since it’s such a revolutionary drama. though might not have enough time to source for newbies, but i’m sure auditions can open doors for potential newcomers.

     btw, this show reminds me of the 90’s show “zhen1 xiang4″ by Ivy Lee.

     Certainly hope 洪荣狄 wun disappoint us this time. his past works were great and engaging, but think these few yrs he overworked, producing only mediocre and exaggerated dramas.

     For the female lead, among the 7 princess, Dawn shld be the most suitable. She is the youngest and has the “child innocence’ look as required. But her acting is not very consistent, might not be able to take up such a challenging role. So If we want to choose from the princess, Rui en will be a good choice to consider. Her acting is good and I believe she got no problem portraying the role. If we don’t want a “princess” for the role, we can consider Paige Chua too. She is quite a potential newcomer.

     As for austic chap, Joshua Ang is the best choice but if we decide to choose him, will be quite hard to find a suitable female lead to match him. So I would recommend upcpming star ZZH. He meet most of the requirements for the role. His appearance look “ quiet “ enough to be a austic guy. Some said DYT is okay for the role. But that chap has a “bad boy” look on him, doesn’t look convincing enough to be a austic guy lor. Elvin Ng is okay. As for the rouge lawyer can ask Thomas Ong. He looks smart and qualify enough. If not, can we consider 715 ?

     When i read the blog post, the first person that came to my mind is Paige chua. The ex-lawyer should be TPH while the autistic chap should be jerry yeo. Elvin shouldn’t be given the autistic chap or else he will be a situation like jeanette’s yueniang and jianhong. Some people will still see it as his previous role although there are clearly differences. And who says every year has to be jeanette or dyt? Nope it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s mainly on the how the character is and for this blockbuster, it is clear that jeanette and dyt doesn’t suit the role here. I would rather jeanette and rui en have a go for the CID show and both should get a role in 2011’s blockbuster.

     If filming starts too early for Felicia to make it, she can take up the Evil role! Then maybe Jess can be the female lead. It’s been long since she’s ever the first lead, and she has no BB yet.

     Otherwise, Jean/RE/Yvonne are all good choices too!

     Hope that the Ah-jies/Ah-ges will have a role in this BB. Supporting but important roles is now the hype ^.^

     For every ‘SICK’ person like you who do not wish to see DYT, JA and TO on screen, there are at least 100 HEALTHY audiences who love to see them!

     though i’ve nothing against FC, i’m don’t think she has the young innocent look; on the contrary, she has a mature look and quite big size looking at her physique; and will not suit the role based on Paul’s comment.

     i’ve watched rebecca lim in “the pupil” and i think she’s pretty good; and she looks petite on tv; have not seen her personally though but i’ve seen FC.

     whoever gets the role will largely depend on how well they perform at the audition. so, pls don’t get so worked up and start slamming artistes that you don’t favour. tku

     Just try to picture a male artiste playing ‘L’ in the Japanese movie ‘Death Note’ and you probably get a good feel of the role of this autistic lead male chap…’L’ anyone? That Jap star played it very well – weird yet intelligent, scary yet vulnerable…

     Those male stars who are still in Uni are unlikely to take it up as it means delaying their completion year in the Uni.

     Sometimes, the casting committee will cast unusual suspects…hard to say…

     By the way, any stars to be cast in drama for September, October and November won’t be able to do this one…

     To me, its not only about the actor’s acting skills, its also about his complextion and build, can’t be to tall and big becuase look too sporty.. (: i don’t know why, but that’s what came into my mind. That’s why most of the actors like can’t. A big need for “quality control”.

     Felicia Chin… i don’t think can …she’s too innocent and sweet looking, dawn yeoh got the slightly more mature feel, yet innocent. I need she needs to “warm up” alittle, don’t you think so? lols!..

     as for the autistic guy, i got one very bold suggestion, maybe they could consider zzen?? because for the autistic guy, its best that you use someone they has not been on screen too often esp DYT, his’s too man for that role. mysterious look… hmm.. can make him wear eye liner lmao! maybe can work !

     As for the lawyer, when i think of a lawyer in dramas, i always think of TPH. If that’s the imagine that he gives us, i think its best to use him and let him do what he does best (:

     Who has the look of quirky genius detective L (played by Kenichi Matsuyama) in Death Note, it’s no other than Yuan Shuai. He left an impression when I saw him in the Cosmo Play of L in Channel U, On the Beat , cute and weird looking.

     He has the look, not too good looking nor bad looking. I hope he’ll be groomed as an actor rather than a host.

     female lead – Rui En. She not that tall. After seeing HF, I am sure she can do with the ‘child innocence’ No matter how her personal character is, but on screen , I always see a different her. I have faith in her after watching many shows of hers because she act well , convincing and never exaggerated in her roles. No matter what kind of roles she took , she 拿捏得很好, can make the characters totally alive and never see any RE shadow in the roles.

     For the lawyer role , I think Tay Ping Hui can do the job super well.

     For the a autistic chap , if possible , Jerry Yeo make a good candidate . After watching SZX , I am sure he is a very good actor! Zzen will make a good choice. I am actually thinking of Zhang Yao Dong. He always act a very safe role. This might be a breakthough for ZYD. Something different.

     Most of the princesses are too overexposed to be “innocent” and “child like”, vulnerable, charming and “scared”. Why don’t we get a breakout star?

     This is the kind of role which calls for a fresh face, a beautiful, innocent, young girl look, inexperienced and a little scared, but hopefully very girlish and pretty.

     Can consider Meixin … I thought she is a Singaporean who was discovered in Taiwan? She has this untainted, pure look, with a slim frame and an effortless girlish smile. She is both lively and delicate.

     Other back up choices: maybe Koh Yah Hwee, Kola, Peixin, Paige Chua in that order.

     As for the weird guy, Paul is right, it’s too big a risk for Elvin to take after the success of Tarzan, if he can’t pull it off and mess up.

     This guy has to be played cool and weird, like L, as some fans mentioned, otherwise, the role will look creepy and stupid. Who has this kind of cool and weird vibe? Desmond Tan has that weird (as in unique) and cool look. Yuan Shuai also has that “shi li pai” actor vibe and may be able to pull this role off while still attracting and enlarging his fan base. It’s a risk to field Zzen, ‘cos I like Zzen very much, and I’m afraid he will come off as more wierd than cool, and this will limit his future roles. Prefer Zzen to be straight and cool, and Zzen has a tendency to act to the extreme in baddie or weird roles, e.g. Robert in Little Nonya.

     Nathaniel is an interesting choice, as he is so good looking, even if he acts weird I think many girls will still like him. He could end up as both weird and cool, and still drop dead good looking in this role, if he pulls this off.

     So my top choices for the weird role is Desmond, Yuan Shuai and Nathaniel.

     The rouge lawyer, Thomas Ong is a shoo in, a sure and clear winner, exact fit in this role.

After watching that scene, it perturbs me even further how such subpar superficial acting could be recognized whereas the really excellent actresses have been ignored. Last year, there were so many more outstanding actresses in supporting roles i.e. Cynthia Koh and Pan Ling Ling and even Apple Hong were so much better than her in The Little Nonya yet they were snubbed. This year, Zoe and Fann in The Ultimatum were unbeatable as leading actresses yet they were both snubbed as well. BOO to star awards!

     当然是我的偶像欧萱了！虽然她的年龄与剧中人物的年龄有差距，不过以她的样貌及身形是最适合了！相信大家都知道她在《当》剧里一开始是饰演十八岁的少女，丝毫看不出年龄上有任何的差距，而且表现也是众人皆知的！是那么的棒！还有谁比她更适合呢？
     （肯定会有许多人反对我的看法；尤其是ANTI-JA，妒嫉她的成就与美貌的观众以及身上某些部位电线短路脑袋烧坏的专家，他们肯定会哭父哭母反对，批评及炮轰，不过最后都还是会乖乖的在电视机前观看剧集的播出！不然连看都不又怎个去批评呢？欧萱不愧是观众最喜欢在电视上见到的女演员！）
     孤僻自闭的男主角：
     不妨考虑由袁帅来饰演，之前对他无甚印象，不过看了他在《当》剧的演出，觉得他会是这个角色的适合人选，也希望能再次在剧中见到他与欧萱对戏，该让他尝试演较吃重的角色，给他机会磨炼演技！
     律师男主角：
     由演技派的陈汉伟或郑斌辉来饰演，也许最终会是郑斌辉，他目前也只是接拍了一出剧集。

     其他人选：
     女主角：
     姚懿姗吧！最少她是公主之一，年龄最适合，也有自然流露的天真及可爱！（虽然脸上某部位大了些）演技也还好不算夸张！无需像某些女演员那样需要扮可爱！
     自闭男主角：
     戚玉武是第二人选，为什么他是第二呢？（希望Mediacorp提拔多些新人如袁帅. . . ）他的外形给人的第一印象就是孤僻的那一类！
     律师男主角：
     曹国辉也蛮适合！曾经在新加坡及香港合作的剧集里见过他饰演律师，而且更是资历蛮深的男演员，是
     属于演技派的阿哥！

     以下是最不适合的人选：
     女主角：
     首推XXX，就连她的名字都不屑输入！就干脆将她省略了，不值得一提！
     陈靓瑄，虽然曾在这三年里参予年度大制作，也都只是演些小角色之类的；已没有多少观众记得她在《黄金路》演哪个角色？《小娘惹》的参予演出更是多余！《双子星》里的演技更是夸张，看过许多女演员演疯婆子，就只有她是演到全身在发抖，像是演鬼上身多过发疯！长寿剧里所见到的，也是印象最深刻的就是“嘟起樱桃小嘴，撑大鼻恐”在演戏！至于演未婚妈妈也是重施故技，不值一看，收视更不在十大以外！可以想像如果由她来饰演这角色，不“嘟起樱桃小嘴，撑大鼻恐”来演才怪！惊. . . . .！
     其他两位男主角：
     也实在没有不适合的，如果硬要列出；不好意思，也许就是华语超烂的方展发，鹤天赐，黄俊雄及PHUA CHU KANG　吧！哈哈哈！

     I find this a very interesting plot. Something different from the usual Singapore dramas we get.

     Since the actress has to be someone more towards the petite side, may I suggest Paige. I like her acting skill. I think she should be able to handle this role well.

     But if one were to take the actress’ voice into consideration, then Dawn’s voice just fits in naturally. She looks ‘young’, can act young & ’sounds’ young.

     Kola is not a bad choice too. I’ll never forget her look when she rested her chin on her arms which were placed on the study table while she day-dreamed about herself (Huimin) & Lin Xiao Bei at the beach in ‘Together’. She looks so ‘ah girl’. Very sweet & child-like.

     Lawyer = Thomas Ong fits the bill.

     Alternatively, can try to rope in Darren Lim. I find he is a good actor who has not been given enough chance to prove himself

     Paul, I only watched a little of ‘L’ in ‘Death Note’, so I’ve vague memory.

     Autistic guy = It’s a pity the Uni guys are bz with their work. If not, there will be more choices.

     DYT can look autistic with glasses on…He has a different look when he puts on his glasses.
     Someone above said DYT has a ‘bad-boy’ look, I disagree with him/her. It’s just that his pronounced eyebrows give him a ‘煞气’ look. Once he puts on his glasses, his looks soften.

     No age was stated for this autistic guy (only the self-proclaimed 280 yrs old) How old should the actor be?

     Anonymous, what’s up with you?? Whether Rui En is anti-social or not, whether she really hates her colleagues or not, its not our problem. We are just viewers. You can dislike her for who she is, but different people have different characters. Those overly friendly/sociable, fake and gossip around, behaving immaturely, back stabbers people how? Good to society? Some people just want to be quiet as they don’t have trust in people due to their life experience, they only open up to people they find comfortable with, we should respect them and not insult them.      TPH is good for the ex lawyer role.

     As for the autistic guy, Zzen is a good choice. The rouge lawyer fits Christopher Lee to a T too. Hopefully and I am praying for a refreshing choice of casts. Not the usual princess please.

     Appearance and image wise, Yuan shuai has the closet fit to L of Deathnote.

     As for the 38 yo lawyer, first actor to come to mind is none other than TPH.

     With suitable styling, the actual 26 yo JP can fit the female lead well. If need someone younger and less experience, can consider Teresa Teng (of TOG).

     I notice the trend that is repeated over and over again…. we have very strong female leads, and everyone has controversies regarding the actresses… but when it comes to the younger males…. there is a lack of enthusiasm on the audience and fans part. It seems that while we have accepted the 7 princesses and others as the up and coming stars to take over the ah jies, we have yet to accept the young men of the same age group to be on a level playing field as the ah ges….

     Not that I am complaining… because out of the list I just made, I probably see acting potential in not more than 5 of them…. and the people that MCS is promoting like crazy are those that really cannot act IMHO….

     Regardless…. the overwhelming response for Felicia Chin is really touching… So Paul… please reflect to the execs that maybe this is the role for Felicia…. THIS IS HER TIME TO SHINE!

     Nat Ho for the autistic role! he has the looks of a very quiet guy which i think will fit the autistic role pretty well.
     and anyway, i think that Nat has improved a lot especially in his current show – Priceless Wonder. yes, he still has a little of that angmoh-ish accent in him, but notice, it is not as heavy as before. in fact, he has almost totally shedded away that accent and his acting has improved a lot. not sure if it has anything to do with the accent, but nonetheless it’s a good thing.

     How about Kola for the female lead? After seeing her performance in “Together”, I think that her acting skills can make one very 期待 to see how she will flesh out the new character.

     I think Kola will be able to give depth to the character and give different “layers” to the character. Among the younger actresses, she is the one who acts the best, imho. She should be given more work.

     For the rogue lawyer, the just married Christopher Lee. He looks like the 黑白两道 also can get along type of guy (someone who doesn’t always do things the “proper” way). I believe he will be able to 胜任 this role.

     The autistic guy… Joshua. I think he can act well, and he is another guy who also has depth.

     The plot sounds very interesting. I hope the production team will make the right choices and pick good actors. Don’t ruin the show by choosing based on looks or popularity. It will be a waste of the scriptwriter’s efforts.

     Just curious, did the scriptwriter mention who are his preferred cast members?

     (Paul: The scriptwriter has yet to name his choice but he is reading all your comments here and it will provide him with that ‘visuals’ needed. I think Kola has the body frame to fit into the role…just loose some more weights and she will look perfect like someone lying in bed for 13 years without much happening to the body but bare bones and soul. Joshua imo may risk being compared to his previous role in ‘Table of Glory’…hard to jump out of that character to garner breakthrough. May want to break out from the mould andd try someone you would never have expected him to play a suave lawyer before…Alamak, anyone? Just kidding…)

     虽然只看到这么点剧情透露，但是已足够吸引我，而作为一部年度重头戏，选角上要谨慎。不然结果如何，我都会看！

     每个角色我都有三个人选
     Female Lead：第一人选：Dawn Yeoh 演技ok，看起来够天真可爱，没看过她演台庆剧，可以给她一个机会，也给观众新鲜感 ！

     第二人选：Jeanette Aw 虽然年龄上不符合，但是相信她可以演出剧中女主角那种感觉，而且我觉得7公主里面，适合这个角色的也只有她和姚懿珊，其他的显得过与成熟！

     srsly i think this is like a good plot, very korean drama type where there is 3 main char, 1 female and 2 males. Its like smth new and the char must be carefully picked.

     Female suggestions: Kellypoon, Jesseca Liu, Felicia Chin or Joanne Peh
     Personally i think all 4 is a good chpoice. Jesseca Liu and Felicia Chin got the innocent kinda look which i tihnk they should be able to handle the char well. Joanne Peh and Felicia is easily the est 2 out of the 7 princesses tht can rlly act. Kellypoon can act ell as well, in case you guys did not see the mrt show.

     For the guy, lawyer can be thomas or Yuan Shuai. Thomas just fit the role perfectly imo. However, if you want a fresher appearance, Yuan shuai is a gd choice. Although his appearance in Together wasnt much, i think he did quite well. Should promote male actors tht can act. He is much better then zhenhuan in terms of looks and acting as well.

     For the austic chap, Zzen is the bu er ren xuan. I srsly cant think of other ppl tht can fit in this role…, maybe pornsak?

     I think Rebecca Lim would be a great soon to be leading artress and suitable for such role. Her facial expression is good and got that … well female fans will also like her too. If not Jeanette Aw. Joanne Peh has changed alot recently and lost the “old self” her new image kinda of trying to look sexy is irritable and her voice trying to act cute is so squeaky nowadays. Not sure what went wrong to the old favourite likeable Joanne Peh. She shld just be herself!

     As for male, Elvin Ng can match both Jeanette or Rebecca!

     No felicia pls. She don’t look that young actually. Although Paige is older than her in reality, she still look younger than FC. It’s either Paige or Dawn. But if Dawn were to act in this role, she needs a change in her hairstyle.
     I want to see more of jeanette but not in this blockbuster. Paul, when will the cast for the CID/informant show be out? Hope that jeanette will get the CID role and rui en gets the informant role. That will be interesting definitely(:

     Wow, really really interesting plot. Kudos to him.

     When I saw innocent, I thought of Dawn Yeoh. I think she can do it..
     Otherwise, Felicia. Paige and Kola both have the potential as well.

     As for the autistic guy, I think Joshua/Zzen (lol his name came to mind without even reading the comments above..)/Jerry. They have the youthful image and they can pull it off. OR BEN YEO! Saw him act in the…tv drama, did very very well. I think Ben+Dawn make a good pairing too.

     Lawyer…hmmm. Surely Tay Ping Hui can do it…but he’s been in so much of those roles I find it tiring to see him act those type of roles. Maybe, we can have…Christopher Lee/Lee Nan Xing…yup this three..

     (Zhang Yaodong should be reserved for the musical drama)

     This role sounds incredibly difficult and the success of the entire series will depend on the lead actress’ performance. This performance not only requires great dexterity in facial expressions and line readings, but also in physicality. I don’t know this for certain, but a person who has been lying in bed for 13 years probably wouldn’t be able to walk normally.

     I think it would be better to cast a more experienced actress, and then use make-up to make her look young rather than to use a young ingenue who hasn’t had time to hone her craft. If the lead actress bombs, so will the drama. I think Yvonne Lim (who doesn’t need much make-up to look young, anyway) will be great in the role.

     I just have to ask one thing, though. Why didn’t the killer try to finish the girl off when she was in a coma? What kind of killer would wait till his/her potential victim wakes up before getting the deed done?

     (Paul: Because ‘the evil’ assumed she fell into a coma for so long, ‘it’ wouldn’t risk being caught doing it again…and what harm could a veggie do right…)

     Terence Cao for the ex-lawyer rogue please? From his older dramas you can see that he does have the ability to play such roles convincingly, however lately he hasn’t been able to put his talent to good use because he has always been assigned 2-dimensional supporting roles, which are all about the same, and do not require much acting ability.

     We’ve seen Tay Ping Hui in lead roles too often already; it’s time for a change! I believe that Terence is able to be just as good if given the chance to prove himself to the new generation. Chen Han Wei don’t have to say we already know he will act well, but let’s give others a chance, yeah? I think 715 isn’t 成熟 enough to play such roles; he hasn’t been on TV very often nowadays.

     Female Lead: Yvonne Lim. I know the lead has to be in her 20s but she still looks young and definitely has the acting ability to pull it off (rmb Metamorphosis?) i agree with jessica that it’s time for a non ahjie/princess to star in a blockbuster
     For 2nd choice, I recommend Paige Chua. She’s innocent looking and definitely has potential

     I dont really have any preference for the male roles but if I had to choose, I would pick:
     Autistic male: Thomas Ong
     Lawyer: Terrence Cao

     I do hope i wont have to see the same stars like Jeanette, Joanne, Felicia, DYT, Elvin =/ I’m not flaming them or anything so i’m sorry to all fans in advance if I offended you. I just feel that there are other stars who should be given more chances to shine instead of those who already has had their fair share of chances(: really hoping for a brand new combi of artistes!

     Paul, 你回答得太好了！以欧萱精湛的演技，火红的知名度，漂亮甜美的外形以及为广大观众影迷所接受，的确是一年只需演出一个好角色，一出好作品就足以深入民心，广受欢迎了！比起那些一年有好几出作品，可是却未能让人留下任何印象的女演员要好上几倍！

     既然这出剧集将以全高清（HD）方式制作拍摄，我想没有比欧萱及周颖更合适的人选了！最少在拍脸部特写镜头时她们俩脸上将不显露岁月痕迹！更不可能会见到任何“瑕疵”！若是有话？就只是脸上的那颗痣吧！

     female lead: definitely kola.
     she’s of the required age, has the petite physique and the acting chops. Her acting in Together, where she acted from a young gal to a mature woman was very convincingly natural.

     autistic chap: DYT
     weird yet intelligent, scary yet vulnerable… i definitely can picture DYT carrying off this role, after seeing his ‘drug addict’ scene in Together. Gives him a chance to break out of the ‘Idol’ image and allows him to grow as an actor, since this is such a challenging role. His age and screen chemistry with Kola is also good (Both TOG and Together). Besides, ‘Splashes & Strings’ production schedule ends just in time for him to start on this right..? Sooo…it’s PERFECT!

     rogue lawyer: Christopher Lee/Shaun Chen/Zhang Yao Dong
     All 3 look roguishly-charming and have the experience and acting chops to carry off the bad-guy role very convincingly…

     I don’t think this female lead role should be given to someone who look innocent. I think it should be given to someone who can play innocent. I suggest Mediacorp to try out the followings: Eelyn, Jeanette, Joanne. These three actresses has got the potential to play innocent roles. It is mentioned that the actress will have to ‘grow up’ fast too. These three actresses again are pretty mature. I am aware of the fact that Jeanette is 30 this year. But she certainly look like she’s in her early 20s. Only people who are anti of her will feel that she’s not. I have confidence that these three actresses can excel if they are handed the role. I also understand for the fact that Felicia is in popular demand by netizens. But then again, I don’t feel that she’ll be able to carry out the blockbuster well. Not because she failed to do so in the past, but because she is lacking something. Something which will make her almost perfect and better than the other three actresses I chose to act in this show. I’ve had my say. I hope Mediacorp will consider my suggestion.

     For the male lead roles, I hope Mediacorp will try to change and diversify in this sector. For the young autistic chap, I suggest Mediacorp can try out Elvin Ng, Pierre Png and Zhang Yao Dong instead of the usual Dai Yang Tian and Qi Yu Wu. For the ex-rogue lawyer, I suggest Tay Ping Hui.

     after watching Happy Family, im sure we all have no doubt about rui en’s ability to portray “child-like innocence”. she’s natural with her acting regardless of the role she’s given so i’d give her a vote! however, probability of her getting the role shldn’t be high given that mediacorp doesnt seem to want to cast her in BBs…
     as for dawn yeoh, she’s the youngest among the 7P and should have little problem portraying a “12 year old”. her acting needs some polishing and this bb cld just be the right avenue.
     as for the guys, jerry yeo has been impressive for a newbie. can already imagine him in that role so this might be his breakthrough! maybe he can put his studies aside? it’ll be worth it all.
     the lawyer role should go to thomas ong he’s acting is definitely one of the best in his generation! (other than chen hanwei of cos)

     Main actress: I picked Yvonne becos she always got a natural good acting skill for local and oversea drama, especially the one she acted in the Your Hand in Mine Aizhen’s character is very good. Get used to see her hotheaded characters Aizhen nowsday but it would be wonderful to see how Yvonne acts as an innocent 12 years old girl transform to be a mature woman.

     I believed one of the director or producer has mention in Good Morning Singapore that Yvonne has never tried to act from a young to old age. If this character would extend to older age, then you should give Yvonne a try on this drama. And my chinese new year’s resolution is to see Yvonne acts in a good drama this year. YHIM is a production of 2009 so pls give a good drama to her in 2010. Manys Thanks! Cheers!

     Personally, I will choose Jeanette to be the female lead. She never dissapoint me with her superb acting skills. Still remember “Jing Jing” in Holland V? She acted so well as an innocent girl!!!! If Mediacorp want to confirm her AH JIE status, then it’s a good chance to let JA to be the lead again this year. Not anyone can continuously to be the lead of BB. BUT I believe JA certainly can do it… She is best match with DYT in TLN and Together, hope they can play the lead roles again:)

     I think Yuan Shuai also not a bad choice after watching together, he deserves more chance

     I like this genre of dramas. Even before casting is done, I’m looking forward to its screening.

     Yes, it’s good to get some feedback from the ground.

     Yes, we need a petite girl for the female lead, I feel Kola Zhou is a good choice. But Paige Chua is also not bad a choice.

     As for the rougue lawyer :both Tay Peng Hui or Thomas Ong may be a good choice. But we’ve not seen 715 for a long time, apart from the Telemovie,may be it may be a good change to see 715 on the small screen again.

     Autistic guy : I suddenly thought of Dustin Hoffman in ‘Rainman’ (sorry for the young readers here who don’t know what I’m talking about but I’m sure Paul knows). I feel if Mediacorp really want to nurture someone, give that someone roles where he can breakthrough.

     Having watched Dai Yang Tian in ‘Together’ & ‘Telemovie’, I find he is good in many scenes, though not all. Give him this role for a 突破性的演出(breakthrough)。 Pls don’t just give him ‘princey’ roles.

     Cai Pei Xuan is underrated. Her Ba Kut Mei (Rou Gu Mei) role left such a big impression(many local viewers didnt know who is Cai Pei Xuan before Golden Path but she captured their attention with this role and left good n big impression – few actors can acheive that), and she proved her good acting in Golden Path. She should be given more lead roles plus good script to act. And so far her performance in 7pm drama is very good, she’s a likeable lady with xfactor. She should be given more chances. And her looks is very sweet, and 7pm drama is a good example that she can portray innocent role. Just ask her to slim down more.

     Paige is very suitable too. Prettier than all the 7 princess (except Jeanette).

     Give the above 2 sweet ladies more chances to act heavy roles, they got great potential. I think they are much much better than the 7 princessess(except Jeanette).

     As for the other 2 male leads.

     38year old male lead – Tay Ping Hui or Li Nan Xing
     younger male lead – Jerry Yeo or Pornsak

     After some thoughts, I realised DYT indeed resembles the ‘L’ character alot. lolx…he is probably the most suitable actor to do a autisitc chap.      To choose actress that could act innocent does not mean that her original face/character have an innocent/childish/cute look as well. It wont be getting any surprise for the audience,
     as we saw it many times already. Have to choose someone that has a very good acting capability to transform her expression as innocent as required by scriptwriter.

     Good acting skills, 25 years old, able to act innocent(as seen in some parts of her role in huang jin lu and tong xin yuan). she will be the right choice.

     Dear Paul, just to let you know, you can promote your artistes any way you like, but pls bear the responsiblity of the consequences. I only want to remind you that you shouldn’t turn our society into a cold zone. You should know what bad influences RE has on her fans. Honestly, as a parent, do you want to see your children grow up like RE, filled with hatred & unforgiving towards people. If you don’t, then pls don’t encourage other kids to emulate RE, you are undoing the good upbringing of their parents.

     Pls don’t use the excuse that she came from a broken home. Ç’mon, just look at QYF daughter, she is just a little girl, but she is so much more matured than RE. She too grow up witnessing her parents’ fight & bad relationship at home. But she is able to advise her parents to divorce if they feel happier that way. Every time I see her on TV, she is smiling brightly besides her mother.

     Everybody’s life isn’t smooth-sailing, but we shouldn’t use that as an excuse to behave coldly towards other people. We don’t need to act over-friendly, we just need to be friendly cos it’s basic manners.

     We shouldn’t encourage extreme anti-social attitude in our society, pls.

     The autisitc role shd be given to DYT. I know many non DYT fans will sure ’shoot’ him if he ever get the role.

     DYT got a look that is versatile( 伸缩性)，亦正亦邪(good or evil look). Mcorp shd not restrict him to handsome, dashing role .Give DYT a chance..let DYT have some different try in their career.

     Only that, TV actor in Singapor then can excel further.

     Yes..I think DYT will be able to bring out that role.

     We already saw improvement in his acting in the ‘Telemovie’.

     Taiwan is very good in producing 偶像剧。 Do we need to follow them?

     K dramas became so popular worldwide was because the Koreans created a style of their own, instead of mimicking others.

     So S dramas got to have a different style compared to other countries’ dramas.

     Allow DYT to have a breakthrough, let everyone forget that he’s handsome. If the actor is ready psychologically for such a drastic change, then perhaps (just a suggestion, no other ill-intentions) the TV station should give him a chance to prove himself.

     I really would like to see Jeanette and DYT playing in any modern drama.
     They’re very compatible.
     The most compatible on screen couple after Zoe + Nan Xing and Fann + Chris.

     Sorry to say from telemovie, combination DYT and Joanne is not having great chemistry.
     Joanne’s perfect partner is TPH.
     I dont know DYT + Felicia’s combo later, have to watch it first.

     If possible, would like to see Jeanette playing more drama this year.

     Seriously, I feel that CaiPeiXuan outshone Joanne in YHIM. ZhangYaoDong’s character should have been written to like CaiPX. They look more compatible.
     In terms of acting, CPX certainly proves herself.

     To ah B: Kinda surprised that u spoke for Jeanette. Thanks. People should really be more gracious and fair towards artistes. It is really surprising that u voted for Jeanette to get the role instead of Felicia.

     Anyways, feel that if Jeanette get this role, she will most certainly not get evil songstress role next year. Though I feel that Jeanette fits this role well, I would prefer her to get the other blockbuster role.

     I guess Jeanette should be able to get 1/2 dramas this year? Paul, we really miss her onscreen. Hopefully, she will be in the CID/INFORMANT drama!

     female lead – yvonne lim; i think she is very capable so act as such a character. she acts so well in those psycho roles mediacorp always gives her!

     autistic – jerry yeo or zzen zhang maybe; both veyr talented but underrated rising talents. mediacorp should learn to embrace such talents instead of just giving all these good roles to the same few people (not to mention names) all the time.

     ex-lawyer – terence cao; he acted as lawyer in “innocently guilty” before, so that settles the experience part. he has also been overlooked in recent years, and most of the better and lead roles are always given to his peers (chen han wei and tay ping hui for example) instead. please give the audience another chance to see his true acting abilities.

     There you see Paul, the kids here already got influenced by RE & think she is right to behave this way. See what bad influence she had on the kids? Don’t you think it’s high time you do something to help the parents of these kids? After watching Life Transformers. I feel more offended by RE who doesn’t count her blessings but keep telling the whole world how her colleagues don’t deserve her attention & then broadcast what charity work she is doing. Isn’t she contradictory? A person who genuinely & sincerely do charity will naturally be friendly to the people around her. For someone who is so unforgiving, she can’t be doing charity sincerely.

     Kids, pls don’t emulate RE, I hate to see our society turn into a cold world, with people like RE walking around with a sulky face & ignoring people who smile at her. That’s my biggest nightmare, really.

     Paul, pls have some responsibility towards the society & the kids. The bible, the koran & the buddhist scriptures certainly don’t teach people to behave like RE.      And I agree with what hum-tum said. Other than Rui En, I believe that previously/all along, there were/are nonsensical comments hitting out unfairly at Zoe, Fann, Jeanette, Felicia and Joanne, to name a few. And while these nonsense were allowed to surface freely in the past, I noticed that Paul has taken the effort recently to help moderate the comments and defend for the artistes (I remember reading Paul’s recent comment backing Felicia’s acting too).

     I think it is a good move because we really don’t know any of these artistes well enough to make such hurting comments about them. Each of us here has got our own right to support whoever we fancy, there’s no need to conform to anyone and nonsensical comments would do no one good.

     I was just wondering since so many people are supporting their princess idol. Then why dont Mediacorp comes up with another year end drama to have all the princess act in it. I think it has been ages sinces the 6 princess (exclude Fiona) act in one drama. so what do u think Paul?

     Btw, i still die die think Yvonne is suitable for 破天网. What say u paul? and it has been so many years since mediacorp produced the tradional fighting drama liked those TVB drama, example return of condor heroes, etc.

     Nobody says that she is right or wrong to behave in that way. It’s not necessarily a black and white or right and wrong world out there.

     And try not to live in your own world too much. Many of the things you claimed, such as “…who doesn’t count her blessings but keep telling the whole world how her colleagues don’t deserve her attention…”, are just things you perhaps imagine them yourself because I’ve never seen any report of her saying this. If she did, and if I happen to miss it out, then please cite the source and let me know here. If not, I advice you to come out of your own imaginary world, and look at other more important things on our Earth that you can or should be more concerned with.

     For me as a fan and TV viewer, I honestly think if u r looking for a good actress with good acting skill, I can say Yvonne is the one u r looking for.

     Actually noticed Mediacorp has forcusing too much on Singapore real life drama. Can we have some fantasy drama liked the old days? 1,000 year old saint, Super heroes, Werewolf, etc. Used to like the ATV’s Have a date with Vampines series. Can we have something similar but maybe liked Have a date with Werewolf? or Have a date with ex-boyfriend or girlfriend? Just an idea for discussion.

     In related to this matter, maybe you guys should also looking into environmental issues that can incorporate into the drama. Dont know whether u noticed or not. The fridge in Aizhen and dolly’s house (YHIM) were using a 2 ticks fridge. which is not that efficient compared to a 4 Ticks fridge.      sorry-sorry, if what you said is true, then you should be forgiving towards her and give her a chance to change for the better??? Don’t condemn her straight away without understanding her. Actually I find the society more of hypocritical than cold. I often see overly bubbly/ friendly backstabbers than anti-social/ direct and blunt people in the society. If what you said is true, at least she is being real, I think it’s still better than hypocrites who are all so well-mannered and friendly but stab you real hard at your back and all sorts of cunning and scheming ways on you. This kind is what I think should guard against, smile in the knife type, not the anti-social type.

     Hi Paul & EP,

     May i suggest Cai Pei Xuan for the lead role.

     She is pretty, good in acting, matured enough to deliver yet not too old
     to be innocent. I think she is 28 this year.

     Some people suggested Felicia; yes FC is young but her acting like not ‘powerful’
     enough to carry a bb on her own..maybe in the near future bah.

     As for Page Chua, not a bad choice but her eyes not the round round big big type
     so though attractive but just not the same as Pei Xuan’s.

     For the lawyer, LNX bah, he had such good chemistry with Pei Xuan in
     Golden Path so it will be good for them to act together again.

     The autistic guy can try Shaun Chen.

     There, my 3 choices are all good looking and can act..

     IMO, I think she is a wonderful actor. She had been playing roles too matured for her age, and yet, when she was given ‘Baby Bonus’, she bounces right back in. As an ah lian and a little boy (in Ultimatum), just watching her body language is so pleasurable, because it is so believable.

     I am in San Francisco, and I showed a clip of Felicia in Ultimatum to a Caucasian friend. He said “Oh my god, I know a boy who is exactly like that.” I was really tickled, because he didn’t realise that Felicia is a girl.

     So based on how she immersed herself in her past roles, I think she will afford this role the same sincerity and preparation.

     I do feel that maybe she is a little too tall for this role… but, I think with some weight lost, she could fit into the role comfortably.

     I have never met the lady, nor have I ever talked to her…. but it is very comforting watching her on television (in my case the internet), because there is no stress, that’s the making of a good actor. I think most of the princesses have this gift/quality about them.

     I don’t think the whole idea of “she has one before,” or “she already got a show for this year” is a fair one…. I think it should be based on who’s most “Suitable” for the part.

     I’m sure the screenwriter himself has a ‘prototype’ or someone he envisioned as he is writing this screenplay. I wonder who might that be.

     Paul: Question… do they actually audition their actors if there are many in the running, or do they just choose based on merits alone? I actually never really heard of it before. (use to work inside).

     (Paul: They don’t audition if the EP is very sure right from the start to cast so-and-so. But when they are not sure and with options, they will audition the stars)

     “The Golden Path” is the best modern blockbuster/drama I’ve ever seen that is produced by mediacorp. The characters were well-written and the story unfolds at a good pace with appropriate linkages. Every scene is important to the storyline, hence there were no redundant scenes.. A pity the drama wasn’t extended to fully explain and develop the ending. The writer did say that a 2-episodes extension would have served that purpose well. ^.^

     Am quite awaiting “Breakthrough” and hope it will be as its drama title and breakthrough the roof in terms of viewership (:

     Did you guys watch Priceless Wonder? I think it’s turning out to be an unexpected hit! Lots of difference good acting makes… all the characters are interesting and watchable, despite their flaws.

     I want to commend particularly Zzen and Tiffany. Zzen is really is an unexpected show stealer. See his mischevious smile, his sparky eyes. His acting is natural. He is naughty i.e. bad boy, e.g. when he pretended to ask Tiffany where she is going to spend the night when she got drunk, but in the end he brought her to her home as she has left home so that she can reconcile with her mom.

     He’s really the outwardly “bad’ boy, ragammuffin where inwardly nice guy.

     It’s so funny to see Tiffany’s retorts, the lines were good and entertaining, and Tiffany played her role well too. She looks extremely likable with her cherry haircut and a sweet smile, and act spunky demeanor.

     I like the part where Alan Tern frisked Zzen, and Zzen was very worried because he was holding the bookie money in his bag. His expression was vulnerable and really attractive.

     It’s gems like these which makes Zzen special.

     Xiang Yun looks especially hilarious and believable with her wild tight ringlets and auntie look. Kudos to her!

     Mediacorp, give us more more of Zzen pls! Love Tiffany as well…

     Totally agree with Ah B. The best Mediacorp’s modern drama that I watched before is The Golden Path! Every casts’ acting is awesome and up to standard and every scenes are important and cannot be missed. Most important is they have the storyline whereby we were unable to guess what will happen next. Hope that “Breakout” can have the same breakthrough results as The Golden Path!

     for the female lead, it should go to dawn yeoh, jeanette aw or kola. they have the sweet, innocent and pettie look.

     the rest of the actresses mentioned by others are either too mature looking, too elegant, too tall or too new to act.

     for the rough lawyer, tay ping hui and the above 3 female actresses havent acted before. so it will be a good match. so are thomas ong, pierre png and LI NAN XING.

     nat ho should be given the chance to take up the role. i think the way he talks is better in the new show. but he looks quite small size in 9pm show. in polo boys, he looks fit. why is that so?

     have the feeling zhenhuan will take up the role. or yangtian. i’d rather not see to them in this show.

     haha, i agree with AC that if Yvonne seems too mature (which i dont think she is), they can manipulate the age of the female character(: Actually there’s a need to because she is able to act (and look) young(: I dont know abt the rest, but i feel that it’s indeed unfair to set an age limit =/ It’s not that I’m against getting the princesses to act; I like quite a few princesses too but i think it’s time for non princesses who havent really got their chances yet to shine =D
     Regardless of who it is, i feel that being able to play the part well is more important than looking the part. Yup I agree that looking like the part helps, but it’s the acting skills that really leaves the impact.
     I’m still rooting for Yvonne cos I believe that she’ll be able to handle the role well. The plot sounds really promising so I hope that the casting will be considered carefully. If the lead is unable to carry the role well despite meeting the age requirement, the drama will be a flop. The lead should be someone who has the acting skills instead of someone whom they’re trying to groom (:

     I applaud you for defending Rui En, and censoring some of the comments hurled towards her. I think it is unfair for viewers / readers to just judge Rui En based on her preferences and viewpoints. I mean, she is human too! Moreover, you can’t derive that much about her personal character just based on some comments you read about her!!

     Perhaps you need to reflect on your stand here. As moderator, perhaps you need to think: do you want to disallow all personal attacks on the artistes? In that case you will have to read each and every comment very carefully. Or would you want to just let people post whatever they want on the artistes? That way, you could be saved a lot of trouble. The only thing you have to sieve the comments for, then, would be racist or seditious remarks on religions. I sincerely hope you will think about this.

     You can forget about the nomination. Joanne’s performance was below-par than her counterparts in this show. Her scenes are too little and her scenes are boring and serves no purpose at all. Her other casts did better than her though, unexpectedly. CaiPeiXuan did well in portraying that silly and naive girl who holds a torch for ZYD. Yvonne did well as a hot-tempered woman. Joshua did well acting as a defiant brat. Yeah her mannerisms of a ”gay” is very well done. haha. The rest of the cast did well on their respective performance too. Keep it up!

     CLP being nominated 3times in a row? Possible.

     I would like to see how Joanne performs as joanne’s mother. Honestly, I dont have much expectations though.

     For the rouge ex lawyer can consider tay ping hui, thomas ong, qi yuwu, edmund chen or li nanxing. I think tay ping hui fits this role perfectly, this guy should be given recognition long ago ( referring to best actor).

     I understand that there are many out there who support the princesses.

     I rarely come on this website and I feel the need to say that REBECCA LIM has been absolutely brilliant in The Pupil.

     She has wonderful screen presence and is able to hold her game together with other veterans (Adrian, Kaytong) and may I add that she is beautiful as well. Just that channel8 hasn’t given her a chance to soar in any dramas.

     Her role as the hairstylist in “Mi Tu” was great too. Better than Joanne Peh in that I may add.

     So do consider her. I’d be extremely please and so will everyone in my law firm. Thank you so much

     yes agree with tiffany – let the 1st lead go to Rebecca Lim – she carries herself well very exotic but natural (non plastiky) beauty – very comfortable personality. thin and pale enough for the show. think she will become very big. she has the looks and charisma of a very all-time big-thing.

     Ms Yvonne Lim for the main lead role. I liked her nature acting and i guess the girl in the new drama would be crying a lot so beside good acting, you would need a good actress that can deliver a good cry. I believe Ms Yvonne Lim can fit the role nicely.

     Looks like many actresses have dramas for this year, and i am hoping that Jeanette will now be chosen for this drama. I think that her acting is so-so and is overated. However, I don’t seem to see Yvonne’s name appearing in the cast lists of other upcoming dramas so may I suggest that Yvonne with natural acting be chosen for the main lead?

     She is not extremely “tall”, she can play a strong (TLN and Together) and innocent (Holland V) roles and she fits the image well.

     Ex- lawyer: Ping Hui.

     Fits the age and lawyer type.

     Other guy: Qi Yu Wu

     He’s good at this type of roles.

     I will suggest Yvonne Lim. (though she’s a bit too matured) but if you change her hairstyle to a curly hair, I bet she looks younger and can be the female lead of this show. From there, you will see how good she acts in the show.
