The Star Awards 2012 nominee list is here!
The feisty Ann Kok, with her triumphant “I’m Back!” said on stage last year, is well and truly here to stay! She is nominated for Best Actress for her role as the evil spirit Pin Hong in Bountiful Blessings. While no stranger to Best Actress nominations, but she has never actually won this award before! She is the only ‘Best Actress’ virgin this year, will she manage to pop her cherry in 2012?
With number 3 nominated, how can we miss out No1 and No2! The powerhouses of Caldecott are both nominated this year, Fann for On The Fringe, and Zoe for Devotion.
Completing the Best Actress nomi list are Rui En and Joanne Peh, both nominated for their charming performance in A Tale of 2 Cities. 
On the Best Actor side, TPH has a surprise nomination for his breakout role in Bountiful Blessings as a cheery ah beng! Will 2012 FINALLY bless him with a Best Actor award?
Action heroes this year Qi Yu Wu and Andie Chen get nominated for C.L.I.F. and Code of Honour respectively.
Veterans Chris Lee and Zheng Ge Ping 不负众望! They are nominated for The Oath and Kampong Ties respectively.
A Song to Remember contribute 2 Best Supporting Actor nominations! Chen Han Wei the evil tycoon and Rayson as the forceful blue-collar!
Love Thy Neighbour also contribute 2 Best Supporting Actors, and 1 Best Supporting Actress! Cavin Soh and Brandon Wong get in alongside Vivian Lai’s breakthrough role as a feisty lady from China!
Other Best Supporting Actresses include:
Ng Hui, Kampong Ties as the scary sister-in-law!
Constance Song, On The Fringe (who plays Tomato’s mother!)
Yvonne Lim, The Oath, a tragic character suffering the death of her groom/husband.
Another surprise nomination is Kate Pang, for her role as a prostitute in On The Fringe. She is also nominated for Best Newcomer so this could be a really good year for her!!
Justin Peng (left in the picture) is rightfully nominated in the Young Talent Award! His stunning performance as a mentally impared Xiao Shun was quite unforgettable!
Completing the Young Talent nominations are Junsheng (aunty killer Mozart in Love Thy Neighbour), and the lovable kiddos from Devotion!
The variety hosts fight it out this year! Who has your heart, and who has your eyeballs at 8pm every weekday? Lee Teng for Rail Thrill, Kym Ng for Chef Apprentice, Pornsak for Food Source 2, Bryan for Renaissance, Mark Lee for It’s a Small World 2!

The list of nominees this year is rather shocking. Isn’t “a song to remember” a blockbuster? Their nominations very few. Christopher Lee FTW!!! the guy deserves the award, his understated & natural acting style is touching and moves viewers hearts.
The Oath was truly the best drama of the year!!! A real pity it got left out…. Jesseca Liu would have been nominated for Best Actress too if she’s still in MDC.

The Oath 行医 deserves more nominations, thoroughly enjoyed watching this drama, very interesting and different storyline and innovative filming production as compared to the typical Mediacorp heartland/family type of dramas, and not forgetting the acting cast who all excel in their respective roles in the Oath. Jesseca Liu 刘子绚 truly deserves to be nominated in the Best Actress Award Category.

This year best actress list is the least competitive in the SA history, because all are boring!
Ann’s hiao2 and lunatic role is quite similar to her previous nominated roles lor. I agree that she did well, but what so special about this compared to the previous? Fann’s acting is like the same since last 10 years, I can’t see any surprise. Zoe’s mandarin in the devotion is terrible although the acting is ok, she needs to brush up with her pronunciation (the hanyupinyin is so out of tone), and with her dry voice, it is not so pleasant to watch her acting without dubbing. RE and JP act ok only for A tale for two cities. Can they 重缺for this year’s winner, lol. If not, I just wish they give to Ann since the rests have won before.

Agreed, Although she did really well in the role, of the three roles she played last year, Pinhong was the most light-weighted. A sure way to lower her chances of winning??

Hi paul, i think cynthia koh’s performance was great, the oath was not nominated came as a surprise. i just googled SA2012, and the page on wikipedia says chen romeo won the best newcomer award, how come you guys are so careless, anyway i still think kate pang was a better choice for newcomer award!

1) The Oath getting snubbed for Best Drama
It’s a comlpete joke and insult to the viewers. How did CLIF/ASTR/KT get nominated when The Oath isn’t even in the list? The nomination seems ridiculously dubious and rigged with this omission =/
2) The-In Laws?
What happened to the show? I thought Rui En, Darren, Cynthia etc all did well in the show to sufficiently secure them a nomination for SA…getting zero nomination was quite a shocker
3) Best Supporting Actress
The list seems to be randomly picked by some computer generator. Most of the nominees have so little screen time! Where’s Apple Hong/PLL/Priscilla etc? Same for San Yow too..

I’m not a fan of any of the 4 ladies, but I agree with you. I feel that there are more deserving actresses to fill in that two spots. Looking at the list… I’ll go for Zoe Tay for Best Actress. Christopher Lee for Best Actor.
I’m also surprised that Cynthia Koh, Pan Ling Ling, Priscelia Chan are not nominated in any awards… Well oh Well…

The best supporting actress is the most competitve category every year.. But its disappointing this year.. No veterans like pan ling ling and lin mei jiao… Surpringly the best supporting actor is a tough choice between rayston tan and chen han wei.. I prefer rayston tan more though…
