The Day It Rained on Our Parade《那一年我们淋着雨》is an upcoming 4-episode drama.
The drama is about reenacting our past. It is based on the actual National Day Parade of August 9, 1968, where the parade go-ers stood through the heavy downpour in solidarity. This drama captures that spirit of unity, loyalty and common destiny in a touching and heartwarming story.
Some of the cast includes: Chew Chor Meng, Chen Hui Hui, Aileen Tan, Cynthia Koh, Pan Ling Ling and many child actors.
Here’s a little sneak preview of the behind-the-scenes during filming:
Held at Carnival Beauty Salon at 6 Ceylon Road (an actual ‘60s-style salon that is still currently open for business), the artistes are all dressed up in their ‘50s-‘60s style.
Some of the props (hair products) that were used on set…
Including old magazines too…!
Everyone is all dressed up in their ‘50s-‘60s look!
Pan Ling Ling plays Lucy, the owner of the hair salon. Once a feisty lady in her twenties, but something happened and completely changed her character.
Cynthia Koh plays 露露, a tailor, who is very superstitious by nature.
Along the way, the both of them became best friends.
Eelyn Kok plays 邱燕萍 a sincere, yet serious policewoman 邱警官! Unlike the others, she leads a simple life and devotes herself to be a good police officer.
Do you realize Eelyn looks tanner here than her usual self? Wonder how many layers of foundation they applied on her face, neck and arms.
刘莉莉 played by Priscelia Chan is always favoured by men. She may look beautiful on the outside, but inside is nothing but a ruthless heart.
Ng Hui plays a nun, 玛利亚修女.
By the end of the filming, could Ling Ling pull off to be an actual professional hairdresser? ;P
Getting ready for a haircut! She looks a little worried…hmm. ;o
In the past, it’s all about lending a helping hand.
Going through the script one more time…
