#clif The life of a part-time actor – internet sensation Luo Chao Long aka Ian Fang

6

After last night’s episode of C.L.I.F. 警徽天职, the Twittersphere and Facebook community was all atwitter about the mysterious Luo Chao Long, the teenage mastermind behind the series of bombings aimed to shame the Police!

went “The mastermind of the serial bombings is SO good looking “, while most tweeps were saying “WHO IS THAT GUY ACTING AS THE MASTERMIND”. In fact, a quick search on Twitter found a link to his fan club “IFFC” with 68 fans! Not too bad for barely 20 hours after his first notable exposure on TV!

We made a quick investigation and managed to hunt down Ian Fang 方伟杰 for an interview today!

The cutie-pie is currently in his 3rd year at Republic Poly. Shanghai-born, he’s been in Singapore for the last 10 years, and has been dabbling in modelling and acting! You might have seen him in 插班生’s MV 《逞强》! (He played the male lead opposite the girls)

While he’s gotten significantly more famous in the last 20 hours, he has actually been biding his time for a while. Turns out he has been in MediaCorp’s database of actors for 2 years before nabbing the role of Luo Chao Long! He has since been bombarded with tons of friend requests on Facebook from mysterious fangirls!

The 1.80m tall, 22 year-old goodlooker is a fiercely independent and hardworking wannabe actor. Living alone in Singapore, he dedicates most of his time to watching movies, and claims to have watched 300+ movies in the last 2 years to hone his acting skills.

2

Unfortunately, with the conclusion of his case in C.L.I.F., his character will not appear again in subsequent episodes. But if your curiosity has been sufficiently piqued, YOU SHALL BE SATISFIED!

In a Cinderella-esque story, Ian has already gotten his big break on Channel 8!

A couple months ago, while on his way to sign some documents for our Casting department, he bumped into Executive Producer Paul Yuen (credited with Unriddle, Tale of 2 Cities, Bountiful Blessings) who was working on On The Fringe 边缘父子, Li Nan Xing’s comeback drama in August. His good looks and bad boy demeanour caught the EP’s eye, and gave him an audition on the spot. So yes, Ian will be back on our screens very soon!

He will be playing a meaty role, as Fann Wong’s brother. JASON is a 小混混, who worships his older sister, and wants to lead a gang like her. He is rebellious and a huge bully in school, and has many fighting scenes with Edwin (Goh, from Fighting Spiders who plays Li Nanxing’s son).

We hope Ian continues to work hard at his acting skills, and wish him all the best in his acting career!

For those of you more inclined towards Luo Chao Long’s accomplices, we managed to dig out a little of their background also!

Dai Wei Hong is played by Royston Ong, also an actor with us. We understand he’s going to film something for Channel 8 in a few weeks, so this will not be the last we see of him!

3

Cao Ji Hong, is played by Jae Leong! As far as we know, there are no upcoming projects for him.

In my opinion, Jae Leung’s acting skill is the the best. He has got so much acting experience especially as juvenile delinquent in few of the past TV dramas. And Jae is the best looking of the three. When is he getting his break from Mediacorp? If he returns to Hong Kong to find greener pastures, it would be a great loss for Singapore.

Yup. I was in the same secondary school as him – Bendemeer Sec. He was damn cocky and always act big. Even bully some of the lower sec boys. Then in front of teachers act like some teacher’s pet. Well, i think this is what you mean by having “GOOD ACTING” skills huh. Being a hypocryte that is…

(Paul: u Kanna rejected as his friend so can’t wait to take revenge to smear his name?)

Looks fun to have more young faces in our local dramas. Please do add more new faces to the dramas. I’ll be definitely catching this police story to check out the dudes and dudettes. Don’t only focus on the dudes, please post more of the dudettes too! =)

This youngster has the potential. He looks a bit like Edison, yet has his own uniqueness and style. He has a really cool and good look, has the height, speaks good Mandarin, and seems to like acting. He may not has a wow acting skills, but take note that he is only 22. Take some time to train him. Let him slowly build up his acting skills in these two years, and who knows? He may overtake DYT and Elvin in the future.

Haha..wanna cast him as one of the baddie in Unriddle 2? He really has that kind of 拽 and bad boy look. Lol.. Let him try smaller role before pushing him to more important roles.

    Caught his performance on MobTV.
I’m sorry but I beg to differ to some of your opinions here.
I don’t think he can in the least act.
I wonder how these people brought themselves to say that this chap can bring life into the characters..
Please don’t go ga-ga over such an ordinary-looking chap.
Singapore’s got better looking boys yo.

Ian Fang is the man of the month, maybe the year.
He is perhaps the most precious find (sans sa2010) that mediacorp has ever landed.
In a short on-screen performance, he literally breathe life into the character and show.
The eyes have sparkles and spirits.
Not sure he is NS-liable or not. But my guts tell me this boy(guy)(man) has powerful potentials to be tapped if MC play it well.
Kudos to MC for daring to inject younger actors into recents dramas on 8 & U. Not all may shine but those few that do, will burn brightly. One reason I look forward to year-end ‘Song’ drama is that of ‘newbie’ playing a lead actress role.

I think Cao Ji Hong, is played by Jae Leong act pretty well among the three of them. Look a bit like 715.

These young chaps got more potential than the latest star search contestants.
