I think there should be more publicity for the voting for fav character. Now those winning are those whose fans/friends/relatives who are aware of the voting on the internet only. In last nite’s Star Awards Special, majority of audience interviewed on the streets voted for Hanwei in Daddy at Home as their fav male character. Why is he not even in the top 10? It is a mockery if the voting is truly reflective of general audience’s sentiments.

Li Yin Zhu has left mediacorp?
Very sad indeed, she is very talented in acting.
She can act a very san ba lady, a very virtuous/ci xiang mother, handcapped woman, name it and she could act it..
Does anyone know the reason for her leaving?
I felt that the role she acted in 一房，半厅，一缸水
was so good, in fact i was surprised she did not get the Best Supporting Actress for that role.
Look at Hollywood, even actresses who are beyond 50 years old are still being appreciated for their acting talents and constantly wins acting awards.

she was already a famous model in Taiwan, that’s why mcs quickly signed her on after witnessing her fame in Taiwan. They then use her to launch their TV dramas at the satellite TV in Taiwan. she was already approached by recording companies in Taiwan & Hype signed her on cos EMI Taiwan express interest in her. Just look, can Hype promote their artistes successfully in Taiwan? No, their only Sg artiste who really make a name in Taiwan is Fann. Stella was only famous for the 1st year & subsequently quit. Rui En flopped so badly that even Jay Chou can’t help her. How did Fann succeed despite being just a part-time singer? It’s cos of her famous modelling background & her own X-factor that make it possible.
She was famous in Taiwan even before she acted in any MCS dramas. Fann joined MCS in a different way as ALL other mcs artistes. Zoe was only a model in Sg & made famous by local media & MCS to become ah jie. without mcs, she may not be where she is now. The others became known due to MCS dramas.
But Fann is of a different league. She was already a top model here & Taiwan doing TV commercials & mag spreads etc.
The others join MCS to become stars, but Fann was approached by MCS to help launch their dramas overseas.
If MCS can make their artistes famous overseas, then why after more than 25 yrs of making TV dramas, only Fann is well-known outside Sg? Isn’t zoe the one who started acting earlier than Fann & did so many dramas before her? then why can’t MCS dramas make her famous outside Sg? When zoe was already established actress here, Fann was still modelling. But Fann was already much more famous than Zoe in Taiwan. So who make Fann famous? NOT mcs, but her own modelling career made her famous.
If MCS is capable, Fann will have even higher popularity & not only her, but other mcs artistes too. Fann is always alone fighting with so many overseas artistes who have powerful managers. Fann lost out cos MCS isn’t capable in managing her.

we know your zoe has ONE very die hard fan who likes to donate money at charity show to show his support for her. if this voting is by telephone, i bet this ONE fan will spend some thousands of $ to vote for zoe. So if zoe won, is she really popular or she won cos of this ONE fan who stupidly spend so much to vote for her. Is phone voting accurate & representative of an artiste’s popularity?

Paul, what time does the voting starts on 18 Apr SA night? Pls can start in the morning, so we can finish voting before the show starts. Or else, how to watch & vote at the same time, especially your voting is damn slow. Got to log out & wait & vote. The code is so very hard on the eyes. Is it necessary to have the code, coz sometimes can’t see clearly, damn waste time to re-type the whole thing again.

I went to see her recent movie, omg, she looks so youthful like in her 20s. But I hope she won’t do any more local dramas, no future at all. Hope she can do foreign dramas, cos when she promotes such dramas, her overseas media exposure is so great & wide spreading all over China & Taiwan showbiz websites. But when she does local dramas, the impact is like raindrop, cos local media not interested in mcs dramas at all & foreign media has no interest too as MCS dramas have no market there.
I wonder why mcs keeps searching for new talents when they got no resources to groom & maintain their popularity. Look at Fann, she hardly goes to Taiwan ever since she stopped her singing career, but even until today, every now & then, her name & news are still being mentioned fondly by many tv stations in Taiwan & her past appearances in variety shows are still being digged out to telecast & well-remembered. It is so rare that mcs produced such a star well-known outside S’pore, but yet mcs has no resources to upkeep her popularity & launch her career further.
Instead, mcs tried so very hard to search & promote some others to no success at all. No wonder, 1 local media said Fann goes international single-handedly through her own effort. It’s a pity, mcs just has no ability to help her go even further.
I hope Fann will go further on her own, forget about mcs, do more foreign projects, though it’s inconvenient now as she is married & has family priority. But I still hope she will make time for her career.

When was Teresa nominated huh? Don’t recall leh. Who won in the year she was nominated ? Was it for singing or acting that she was nominated? I recall she only acted in quite a small role in 莹火虫的梦in early 2007. If that is the role that she is nominated for, then abit unfair leh. She only 15/16 that time. First time acting. Table of Glory only her 2nd show and she is still so young. Should give her a chance again mah.
I also thought Teresa & Kola can get nominated in Newcomer this year. Anyway, nevermind lah. look forward to their shows. Not sure what is Teresa doing now. But I hope don’t have to wait another few years for Teresa to appear on tv.

Now that someone mentioned it, I do find this voting unfair if really lists of NRIC are taken from a school register or something to vote without consent O.O
However, Paul made a good point that fans lived up to the spirit to actually BOTHER to vote so many times everyday. Seriously, this voting system is so painstakingly “mafan” that I’m glad that I don’t have to worry about Felicia until the day itself. I only vote when I’ve totally nothing to do. But I’m definitely voting on April 18th

I’ve got to say it’s partly because they’re not aware of the interview. you did not even leave a short message or notification on any of your latest blog posts about it and you shall not expect everyone to run through all the comments you posted in your blog post. moreover, it’s troublesome for those who’re not used to using twitter or those who dont have a twitter account.

Paul, are you able to track if those fans actually stole nrics to vote, without the knowledge of the nric holders?
Does the nric validator just validate that the nric is valid & so the votes are counted? Will mediacorp contact these nrics holders about their participation in the voting?
So does that mean a teacher can just open up her school register & use all the students’ nric to vote? Or these fans can actually buy a list of nric # from those people who work in a job that has access to many nric #, eg a credit card executive, a HR executive or an insurance agent etc.
And will mediacorp keep the record of all these nric # after the voting ends & make use of it for other purposes? Are the nric # safe with mediacorp voting system?

personally i like Milan, she is so cute & bubbly!! i like her character as the maid & the taxi driver too. Hope she has more exposure in the near future & not being restricted cos of her size. Hongkong has沈殿霞, SG has 一大粒！ her role in perfect cut also touched my heart, it shows she is an all rounder artiste besides being a comedian.
may i know is she still wif J team? is she eligible for the nomination of the most popular artistes selection as Mark Lee & alamak r qualified for the selections since they r also J team artistes?

Let’s say an episode of the channel8 drama at 9pm is shown on TV, how long do we have to wait before we can watch it on xinmsn? Can we watch it immediately on xinmsn after it has been shown on TV or only available a few days later? Thanks.

In a way, I am quite glad that Aunty Lucy is in …infact, ‘she’ deserves to be in cos in a way, ‘everyone knows her’ and she is a favourite character. But I am very appalled by some of the characters in Top 10. For a start, Dream-Catchers is not one of the popular shows …and who can still remember that family of Lin Jia Le, Lin Jia Qi and worse, Lin Jia Jie… goes to show that the fans are voting franctically for their idols, and to me (and I am sure most of you), they are not deserving … Mention Tarzan ….yes, most of us remember, Mention Doctor Alex Tan (The world has no ugly people) ….get what I mean? Who is Lawrence Wong and is there such a show – The Promise? Gosh …. I really hope that at the end of the day, the ever ‘wise’ MediaCorp will seriously look into this voting system and allow some ‘professional judgement to be made’ in deciding and announcing the Top 10 Favourite Characters on 18 Apr…It will be a real mockery if any undeserving idols or characters are IN just because of some ‘fervent’ votings by the ‘craze and stamp-covered eyes’ fans ….haha
