Yes, it’s coming again! 咱们本地娱乐圈的一大盛事 will be telecast in April. As the team sorts out the massive logistics of the event, we call upon you to participate too! Which hardworking star NEEDS to be awarded this year, which awesome programme MUST not be left out of the nomination list? Tell us now!
We will be trawling the cyberworld and Twittersphere to find out which artistes/programmes have left the greatest impression on our viewers so tell us here in the comments section, on our Ch 8 Facebook, or on Twitter! (see below for the links!)

It’s a pity that Yvonne Lim was not nominated for her role in “Kampong Ties”
Best Actress nomination should have been : Zoe Tay “Devotion; Ann Kok and Yvonne Lim “Kampong Ties” … Ann Kok’s in Bountiful Blessings do not deseve a nomination. Rui Ng in either “On The Fringe” or “Code Of Honour” and not “A Tale Of 2 Cities” deserves a nomination. Joanne Peh role in “A Song To Remember” demand more acting tha “A Tale Of 2 Cities” but it is a pity that the whole series “A Song To Remember” … acting is over done. 2 notable performance is Chen Hanwei and Desmond Tan … the trishaw hunk.

Best drama i vote THE IN LAWS. its is play by experience actors and actress with convincing acting and the plot is nice too, not too over. And characters are played mostly by true singaporeans(if u look carefully, it is very rare nowadays) so it feel localise. most other drama uses so call ‘FTs’, who may have nice nice face, but acting not good or plot not nice.
i personally like a tale of 2 cites and love thy neighbours too because they are hilarious and relaxing to watch after a tiring day. Still i think the in laws is the only drama that meet the best drama standard.
And i vote rui en for best actress in the in laws, i think she has the finest acting skill among the younger generation, hope she can win the award again.
So THE IN LAWS for best drama and RUI EN for best actress:)

Joanne Peh [乐在双城，警徽天职，星洲之夜(since it's a BB Drama,likely she will be nominated for this series)]

Eelyn Kok (星洲之夜）或者是 Zoe Tay (阿娣）
Feelings: Have a feeling Rui En will take the award not because she has more dramas but she has better & meatier roles to 发挥。She has a better advantage compared to the others but Ann & Yvonne may be her greatest contenders as they both did well in Kampong Ties too.
Best Actor: Elvin Ng (警徽天职，正义武馆）
Tay Ping Hui [警徽天职，万福楼(Since it's TPH 1st time acting in such a "ah beng" role, he might be nominated for this drama because it's a new & fresh concept for him)]

Feelings: Not trying to be bias but Elvin has a better advantage in this category because he improved so much in his emotional scenes & acting skills and he did impress me with his performance in Code of Honour. Difficult to say who’s his enemy but Tay Ping Hui gave me a rather strong performance, Hanwei too. Thinking of Desmond Tan too but he’s still early, give him more chances to shine.

Feelings: Well, I think that next year’s best supporting actors & actresses will be a tough fight! Real tough! As expected, Pan Ling Ling gives us a very diff. perf. every time and I think her perf. in A Song to remember was great! Cynthia & Aileen is also very versatile in any dramas they do, good performance by them too. It’s high time Lin Mei Jiao gets an award! Her splendid perf. in Little Nyonya was extravagant but luck is not by her side. Like her performance in the 2 dramas she acted this year was awesome! Pls give it to her! Paige still have room for improvement.

Feelings: I want Pornsak to get the award!!! Although he’s considered a newbie host but his hosting in Food Source 2 has improved a lot. He also hosted the show(Rail Thrill) with Lee Teng and it was fun to watch him. He’s a versatile host, Mark Lee also did praise him & Lee Teng for their hosting skills too. Mark Lee also did a very good job in It’s A Small World 2, 果然是主持界的阿哥之一.
年度飞跃奖: Lee Teng. Well,lee teng caught my eye in terms of improvement. Don’t know who else except him to deserve this award.
I think Mediacorp should give the Most Improved Male & Female Artise award too, help to boost them up in terms of performance. Esp. newbies

Well- Deserved: I don’t know who to give if there’s such an award but all of them improve a lot. Although Paige didn’t really impress a lot of people but she did impress me in Code of Honour. At least she was better than her previous shows in terms of her face expressions. Looks like she’s really hardworking! Zhou Ying is also another 1 to look out for, mediacorp should groom her too. Rebecca, no wonder she’s Asian TV Queen 2010 because, man! This girl knows hot to ACT! But it’s only her chinese that is pulling her down. Tracy is a nice girl, acting chops not there yet but improving. Just has to correct her accent and she will be fine. Chris Tong improve quite a lot since last year, like her collab. with Elvin in Code of Honour. She’s definately 1 star to look out for if further groomed.

Julie is also another potential actress and as a newbie, she acted quite well in A Song to Remember but she isn’t a mediacorp contract artise so getting the award for her is a bit tough. Jeffrey is also another 1 Mediacorp should groom! He has good acting skills but doesn’t have the star factor & luck! But with his good acting, I’ll believe he’ll pull through!

Best actress: Rui En has a very high chance of winning it again this year. Her opponent may be either Ann Kok or Yvonne Lim. Joanne Peh & Eelyn Kok will also be nominated in this category. If not, Zoe Tay from Devotion.
Best Actor: Elvin has more room to show in his dramas and i did consider Ping Hui to be his contender in Bountiful Blessings as a Ah Beng & Han Wei as a villian in A Song To Remember. 715 & Zheng Ge Ping will nomainted in this category too. Desmond Tan = still early.
Best Supporting Actress: It’s gonna be a very tough fight for this 2 categories. Lin Mei Jiao has to get an award! I would want her to get an award. her performance stuns me everytime. She was rather evil in Devotion & sarcastic in Love Thy Neighbour! She’s the BEST! Her biggest contender will be Pan Ling Ling,Cynthia Koh( both in A Song to Remember) and Ng Hui(Love Thy Neighbour & Kampong Ties).
Best Supporting Actor: For supporting actor, it would be either Cavin Soh(Love Thy Neighbour) & Rayson Tan ( A Song To Remember). I don’t think Han Wei is a supporting role in A Song to Remember.
Best Newcomer: Kate Pang is definately a hot fav. Have to admit that, won’t be surprised if she did take it on that day itself. Her contenders will be Julie Tan & Jeffrey Xu(black horses). Kate is natural in acting and we can’t deny the fact that this girl knows how to act! Julie is not bad in acting but she needs to figure out her way of conveying her speech in acting.Jeffrey’s acting is also not lacking but what lacks in him is the star factor & luck but I believe he’ll pull through his acting skills.
Best Host: Pornsak has to get it this time! His splendid hosting in Food Source 2 impressed me as the next ah-ge host. Mark Lee did praise him for his good hosting so he has a good career ahead! ^^ His contender will be Mark Lee for It’s A Small World 2, Mark Lee was good too. Hard fight!
Best Info-Ed host: Idk who will get but i have a feeling that it is going to be either Mark Lee or Bryan Wong for Behind Every Job.
Best Newscaster: Either they will give it to Tung Soo Hua or those who haven’t got a award yet, e.g: Wang Zheng, Helen Zhang Haijie.
Best Current Affairs: I think it’s gonna be either Tung Soo Hua for Money Minds or Quek Geok Lye ( Zeng Yue Li) for Focus. It’s always in between these 2 who gets the award.
Best Improved Artise: Lee Teng. His improvement is obvious and I do root for him to get this award! He deserves it this year! Can’t think of anybody else but Andie Chen may have a chance to get this award too.
I think Mediacorp has to add in another 2 awards to encourage & boost the artise to work even harder, although there is already the Best Improved Artise. Best improved male & female artise may be a good choice too! ^^ If they do consider then my nominees are:
Best Improved Male: Andie Chen ( C.L.I.F- Zhao Guo Huang, Code of Honour- Ou Jian Feng)- He improve a lot though, kinda like him in Code of Honour although he’s a baddie.
Zhang Zhen Huan ( A Tale of 2 Cities- Yin Zheng Kai, Devotion- Fu Shuang Jie, The Oath- Guo Jian Zhong) – This guy still needs polishing but he impress me with his acting in the oath.
Yuan Shuai ( Prosperity- Tim, Bountiful Blessings- Roy)- He still needs polishing in his acting but he can host too, surprisingly.
Desmond Tan: (Idk what role he potrayed in C.L.I.F, A Song to Remember- Luo Xiao Xiao)- He’s improving too, like him in A Song to Remember, quite natural acting, should groom him.
Lee Teng( Host- Rail Thrill, Let’s Talk=channel u)- I mean his hosting is not bad just that he doesn’t have the fate with awards. He will be the next hosting ah-ge like Pornsak.
Best Improved Female: Paige Chua (Be Happy- Bai Xiu Ming, Code of Honour- Tang Jia Bao)- Although her acting is not that good, but she did improve for me in code of honour compared to her previous shows. Rebecca Lim (Prosperity- Janice, C.L.I.F- Liu Yue Mei, Love Thy Neighbour- Bai Yu Fang)- This girl can act!!! But her chinese is pulling her down. Nominated for thus category include Koh Yah Hwee, Chris Tong & Tracy Lee.

YA! The In-Laws best drama this year. Nice story plot, with great actors acting. Cynthia Koh acted very very well in that show, evil enough, lots of feelings, I think it’s time for Cynthia Koh to get back her Best Actress Award since 出路 after she got Best Actress. Not forgetting julie tan, she has looks and can act, very cute in her role and in my opinion she even outshine joanne and eelyn, no wonder she is talent-spotted by korean talent entertainment agency. Pls sign her full-time mediacorp she injects freshness and strong presence on screen.

The oath is too overly-rated, I think it is average only…I will say a song to remember is good, love the rilvary between joanne and eelyn, the chemistry between the leads esp. julie tan and qi yuwu and desmond tan. Desmond did a good job and he is quite charismatic in his role, mediacorp should groomed him he can act and looks good, he will be even better in future.
